Droid Update - contacts have disappeared

When I installed the new update this morning, my contacts disappeared. Only their mobile numbers appear. So, I have to remember what person had which number and re-create the contact. Also, my text messages all show with the numbers, and not the contact names. Did I lose all my contacts forever?

If you synced your contacts with your google account when you first set your phone up you should be able to get them back by going to: Settings > Accounts & sync > Google . From there make sure Sync Contacts is checked and then just hit the Sync Now button at the bottom and it will bring back all the contacts you synced.

Just curious... what Build and Software numbers are listed on your About Phone Menu. Look in Software.
