Droid X Calendar Problems

This is probably going to sound really dumb, but I just got my Droid X and live and die by my calendar.  But when I try to enter something in my Calendar I get a message "You must synchronize a calendar before creating a new event".  I've tried everything I can think of, I set up a Google calendar, I have the verification code and still can't set up the calendar.  What am I doing wrong?

After doing what Belle_Fan recommends, I can recommend the "jorte" App from the Market.  It's free and works excellently with Google Calendar.  And, you may enjoy using it.  I find it perfect for me.

Not sure what you have tried to date, but you can sync your calendar by doing the following.  Hope this helps.

  1. From the home screen, select the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display).
  2. Select My Accounts.
  3. Select the appropriate Gmail account.
  4. Select any of the following Data & synchronization options data (enabled when a green check mark is present)

  • To enable auto-synchronization, navigate Applications tab > Settings > Data manager > Data Delivery then select Background data (enabled when a green check mark is present).
    • Sync Calendar
    • Sync Contacts
    • Sync Gmail

  • To complete manual synchronization, select Menu Key
    • Select Sync now

I tried that, but the Calendar is not an option, I have Sync Books, Sync Contacts and Sync Gmail.  I don't know how to get the Sync Calendar to show.

Any suggestions?

Cici, I think some of Belle's info is a little off (sorry...)...

Go to"settings", "accounts", "(your gmail account)". You should have 3 listings to choose to sync: Sync Contacts, Sync Mail, and Sync Calender. Each should have a place to check or uncheck.

Do you not have these options under your gmail account?

Also, and I can't check this until Saturday, but there may be some calender settings to check in gmail on your computer.

I did not see Google Calendar in "my account" and had to do a "Factory Reset" to get the sync working.

It went very easily and reloaded my downloaded apps. The Motorola site had easy steps for the reset.

thanks for the Jorte tip, it looks good so far.
