Droid X- Every time I send a text...... AND Backup Assistant problems.

On my Droid X:

Every time I send a text to someone it notifies me that I have "5" text messages not sent. Whats funny is that they were sent and failed 4 days ago, and it just started doing this last night and i cant get it to stop. I started by hitting the "clear" button. Then I tried  hunting down the ones that didnt send and deleting them. That didnt work, so I deleted all my texts. Didnt work either. I restarted the phone. Didnt work. Did a battery pull. Nope. I read about the update that released last night, and performed the update. And Im still getting the notification even after all that. Its liek Verizon is kicking back everytime I send a text, or either the phone has them stuck in memory somewhere and I cant delete them. Im lost at this point.

Im also having problems with my Backup Assistant. I set it up and it accepted my pin, but didnt transfer my contacts. So i went back to transfer them, and now it says incorrect pin. I hit the forgot pin button to send to my phone, and its the same pin Im using. So I re-enter it, and it says incorrect. I called verizon customer service and was on/off the phone with them all day trying to resolve this problem to no avail. 3 days has past since that, and they were supposed to reset my pin. So today I try to login, get the incorrect pin message, hit the forgot button, and they reset it. So I enter the one they give me and it says pin not consistent with the MDA protocol or something like that. WTF.

I was really pumped about getting this phone. Now Im strongly considering switching back to my blackberry.

Ok, so I figured out what was happening with my texts. When I had Handcent operating, I had some settings out of whack, and even though I deleted the app, the setting were still in effect. So, I reinsalled it, and sure enough, the settings were there, as well as the 5 unsent texts the phone was picking up on. I made the appropriate changes, and Im gonna give handcent another chance and see how I like it because I llike the idea of being able to customize the colors. But, nontheless, this was the problem, and it is fixed now. For further reference, if you install handcent, whatever settings you set, will remain on the phone even if you delete the app.

Please dont make the mistake of getting rid of the droid...It will take some time to get used to but it is so much more phone than any BB. I have owned the moto droid the incredible and now the droidx so I really do know what I am talking about!!! Trust me.

With that said, lets fix your problem,

The backup **bleep**. it just isnt going to work. verizon doesnt support the BA for droid. It sucks I know but on the bright side, once you have all your contacts and info in the DX, it will sync with you gmail account and you wont have to worry about it again.

As for the texting issue, Do you use the factory installed messaging system or di you download one from the market?

If you have downloaded one from the market, you need to disable the notifications from the original messaging and that should rectify the problem. If thats not the case hit me up and we will get it fixed for you

Hope this helped but seriously give the phone a real chance before you goto bb.

what would you suggest when neither the back up assistant or the google sync does not work, and now my yahoo email nor my cox email work with it and verizon has no idea why... I have spend over 28 hours on the phone with them trying to fix this... I never had a phone with so many problems.

According to the VZW tech rep I spoke to, the google sync will not work unless the backup file is in CSV format, so make sure it is saved correctly and that it is synched to gmail in the right format.

As far as your email goes, the only problem I have had with mine was it saying I had an invalid certificate for my MSN account, so I just clicked to update it and Voila, it works flawlessly. I would go into our settings menu, and accounts, and delete your email accounts as they are, and re-set them up again, its possible something may have gotten corrupted or an option may not have set up correctly. Its worth a shot.

Yeah, as far as the BA, I ended up just doing a sync to my phone using my gmail. It just sucks in a way by doing that in the sense that I now have a set of Facebook contacts, and Google contacts, but not one "phone" contact lol. It is what it is though I guess, and I can live with that.

As far as texting goes, I had originally installed and was using Handcent, but with it, you lose the voice to text option which I use when driving as an alternative to texting and driving. Its one of the features of the phone that I like. And whenever I recieved a text, it would alert me with both a OE text and a Handcent notification, so I was ending up with two notifications for one text that had to be cleared. I did like the fact that it allowed me to customize the color and bubbles, but the other complaints I had with it, made me decide to remove it from the phone.

I think what Im gonna try is re-downloading Handcent from the market, and disabling the features on it, and then try deleting it again. The reason I think it may work, is because now that I sit here and type, I remember that Handcent was the program I was using to text at the time the text messages were undelivered. So Im thinking the phone may have "ghost" saved some of the settings that I had chosen when using handcent, even though it is now not on my phone, kind of in the sense of when you delete a program from your computer, but you go back to find the folder still there.

As far as the Droid X, I absolutely love everything ELSE about it. Its 20,000 times more phone than my Blackberry ever thought about being. Im pretty certain I will never go back to BB. Its just these little complaints are irritating.
