Got a Droid X after the last update it strated acting funny tolerable for a while until this issue came up... When composing/typing a text, IM's, emails etc... everytime you hit space or hit the smart dictionary that pops out it goes back to the main menu of texting without hitting done so i have to keep hitting the text box to go back to the keyboard & it does the same thing over & over... sometimes it doesn't even show the words you're typing... frustrating!!! Anyone else having this type of issues??? THANKS!!!

If you do a search of this forum, you will find multiple posts on this.

Go into your keyboard app and select Clear Cache from the App Settings menu.

Also do this for your texting, email, etc.

If you have vibrate/sound on keypress on, turn it off.

If none of those work, a factory reset has been known to take care of this issue. Just make sure you backup all your info first.

I am experiencing the same issues, I am unable to clear cache and others that were suggested. If i have to do a factory reset this will be the 2nd one in a month and I just got this phone in Jan. 2011....what is the deal with it!

I think a factory reset is a bit drastic prior to trying out a different keyboard.

As has stated, if you search the forum you will find your answer.  I have posted an answer under my own post: "Keyboard frozen on screen!!! Help!!!"  Please read that as it outlines the correct answer to solving your problem.  A factory reset is not necessary (unless your problems are more than what you say they are and all other solutions have been tried and exhausted). A keyboard app is also not necessary, as there are simple settings you need to change on your phone.  If after trying the solution I have outlined there, you may need to do some of the other suggestions offered (run in safe mode to find problem apps, and a clear cache).  Hope this helps.

As if only one answer covers all. I have better keyboard 8 and I do not have any typing issues, and that's with vibrate on keypress still enabled.
