We will be traveling to Europe next month (UK, France, Spain). Will we be able to utilize the DriodX for phone calls while traveling? My guess is NO but I'd like to confirm. Also, I am assuming that if we are in a wifi hotspot, I will be able to utilize G-mail without incurring data usage fees? Any advice on how to avoid data usage while traveling would be apprecated. Thanks in advance.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

No you will not be able to use the device for phone calls. Europe uses GSM, with small pockets using CDMA. If your phone isn't programed or authorized for use in these CDMA areas you will not access data. In the GSM areas you cannot access data either. So you should have no worries about data charges. If you find a Wifi hotspot, you can connect to it and access your email/internet.
