Droid X closing and freezing when texting

Within the past few days or so my Droid X phone has started to randomly close and and freeze up when I'm trying to text. Then, when I attempt to re-open and finish my text, it won't show me what I'm typing and will continue to close out, or open other text messages previously sent within the conversation.
I've searched the net and can't seem to find anything cause or solution, so hoping I'll have more luck here. Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

Hmm. Are you currently on the recent update of Gingerbread?
And does this only happen when you press the spacebar?
I would say, go into Settings -- Applications -- Manage applications -- and select the app you use for texting, and select Clear Cache. Do the same for your keyboard app.
If that doesn't work, the only known fix for the spacebar issue (if that's what you're experiencing) is a factory reset. Which means you will have to backup your data, and basically whipe the phone clean.

Mine started that last week. I am on the most recent upgrade. After talking with tech support, we ended up having to do a factory reset. Since then no issues. They had not had anyone contact them with this problem before. Good luck and if you find a solution, that doesn't involve a factory restore, please post.

I don't believe that at all. They always say they've never heard of well known issues when you call them. This bugs me.

When I am contacted to help solve a problem in my world, it's more important to tackle the issue at hand than to have a discussion about whether or not I've heard of the problem before.
However, I do wish that solving some issues I've run into on my job were as easy as a "factory restore".
