I would check ghe Motorola forums to check all the known issues you will be getting into. I would not buy this phone at any price if I had to do it again.

What would you have bought instead? I suppose the Fascinate is $29 so not a bad deal either.

Honestly, some people would have issues with any phone they owned.

All of the complaints you have had are easily resolved and if they can't be that is what the 1yr warranty is for.  But that's cool, my phone works PERFECT.

Have you had the chance to check these phones out at a store yet?  The Fascinate has some bad reviews floating around and it also feels cheaply made when I held it in my hand.  I also don't like how Samsung and HTC have a history of releasing a product and not standing behind it.  I'm surprised HTC hasn't discontinued the Incredible yet, but I imagine it won't be long before they do.  Just look at the HTC Eris, discontinued 3 months after release.

HTC also purchases it's screens from Samsung, and they both tend to have issues with being easily scratched or cracked.  This is an area where the Gorilla Glass used on the Motorola phones leads the pack.

The Fascinate has Gorilla Glass too, but I agree that it doesn't feel as high quality in the hand as the DX.  I do like that SAMOLED screen though!

My opinion differs greatly from Zac's. While I would certainly look for a good price (something I do when shopping for anything), I would not hesitate to buy another Droid X.

The Fascinate uses a much thiner Gorilla Glass to accomidate the AMOLED screen from what I have read.  It provides the scratch resistance, but not as much in the way of shatter resistance.  There are many reports of screen shatters from heights as low as 2-3 ft.

Also if you are looking for performance, the Droid X scores significantly better in benchmark tests.

But in the end it's all what's going to fit your needs.  The Fascinate doesn't fit mine and the Droid X does.

Now one thing I don't like about the Droid X is that Motorola cow-toes to it's consumers at times and rushes updates to meet expectations because it is a US Company.  Samsung has the luxury of being separated from it's US consumers in terms of both distance and media coverage.

I agree, I would not give my Droid X up for any of the devices presently out on any of the US carriers.  I am happy with my device.

I've had the Droid X for a few months now, and love it. Recently, I acquired an HTC Droid (Un)incredible and returned it in about five days. Yeah! There were some nice things about it, but the things I didn't like about it far outweighed the things I liked about it. I won't go into details, but I will say that the Droid X is far superior to the Droid Incredible. Also, as I said before, brand new phones, such as the Droid 2, going for pennies... I would be very leery.

I would purchase it from a corporate store. I recently bought my droid x from a store that I found out later was an "authorized agent". Everything seemed the same and the staff provided good customer service but I can't help but think the problems I've had with the phone might be due to not buying from a "corporate" store. JMHO.

Umm...The HTC DROID Eris was released Nov 6, 2009 and had its EOL on 6/14/10. That was SEVEN months on the market.  Granted that is still a short time.

BTW the way, my one year old Eris is still going strong.
