I have had my Droid X for over 6 months with no problems so far. Suddenly the keyboard is not responding properly. It is slow when typing and when you press the space bar the keyboard retracts. Any suggestions or solutions out there?

Carl1234:
It seems that often there's nothing in the cache to clear, but you have to clear the data. Here's a step-by-step approach:
1. Hit the Menu button on the lower left of your phone.
2. Settings.
3. Applications.
4. Manage Applications.
5. All (along the top).
6. Scroll down and select Multi-touch keyboard.
7. Under "Storage," tap "Clear data."
Hope that helps.

I talked to tech support and they seemed to have found the problem with the 'Next word prediction' function.
Go to 'Settings' --> 'Language & Keyboard' --> 'Multitouch keyboard' --> scroll down to 'next word prediction' and select to turn off.
Once I did this, everything was working perfectly normal. The tech also said Motorola is supposed to be coming out with an update to fix this soon.
Hope this helps!!

The update is out there in a rolling fashion (like normal)..... I have already got the .605 update which is suppose to take care of keyboard problems.....
But I never had keyboard problems on my phone, so I can't say if it fixes it or not. I can only confirm the OTA update is in the process of being put out there for everyone
