Droid X online purchase?

I'm under the assumptoin that some time shortly after midnight on july 15, 2010 that the Droid X will be placed online on the verizonwireless.com site. Does anyone know if the phone will be shipped in just a few days following an online purchase or if it will be shipped out nearly a month later like listed when you try and purchase a comparitive phone like the HTC Incredible currently?

Because if this is the case, then I would rather take my chances at the store. If a Verizon Wireless Rep has any information on this subject, I would greatly appreciate the feedback. That goes for others with some knowledge on the matter as well. Thanks!

from the reps i have talked to because I had the incredible ordered then cancelled it when i heard of the x. the sale may start at midnight. we will have to keep checking. but online orders placed before 6 or 7am, (whenever the online support phones open, because incredible who want to change to the x need to call in to change and that is only on the 15th) will be shipped before the incerdible changed orders. basicly what I was told by the rep is cancelling was my best option, and fed-ex don't open til 7 but if they go on sale at midnight it should be first come/order first serve, and will be shipped after processing at 7. I have to work that night and am also contemplating waiting to get mine from store. 1 because I've been waiting since june 1st for my incerdible and don't want to wait that extra day in shipping. and 2 scared of having to wait another 3 months because the x may be backordered from online sales too. any extra info would be great.

I think that there is a lot of worry just because of the incredible. The incredible has issues because the screen is not being manufactured as quick as the phones. The X does not have any 3rd party parts(like the incredible screen which is made by samsung). Therefor I doubt there will be any huge delays like with the Incredible.

Also most of the time Verizon has overnight shipping!!! It is even on the homepage in the top right hand corner, a little ad about free overnight!!

Hope you are right as I am on the West Coast, but others have said they were told by CS that the time the site will have the X for ordering was TBD.

Great question dclefty! I'm happy to announce that you should have no problem receiving your brand spankin' new droid x within 24 hours of ordering online. I recently spoke to an online verizon wireless rep and it went something like this:

vw banya: hi, how can i help you sir?

davidbalducci: i'm going to ask you a series of questions about the droid x.

vw banya: sure, shoot.

davidbalducci: if i order online at just after midnight upon the 15th (tonight), will i receive the x the very same day?

vw banya: absolutely sir! your motorola droid x should arrive within 24 hours of your order. we have free overnight shipping with every upgrade or online purchase.

davidbalducci: wow, that's great! will it be released with froyo?

vwbanya: not right away, but a market update to froyo should arrive in the very near future based on what we're hearing out of the motorola camp. anything else i can assist you with this evening sir?

davidbalducci: yes, just one more question. is soup a meal?

vw banya: in my humble opinion, no sir, soup by itself does not constitute a meal. going out to dinner at a nice restaurant like mendy's would be a nice start however. may i refer you to our resident online soup expert to assist you further? he can tell ya about soups.

I ordered my DOI X at 2:am on the 15th. I noticed that morning it said something about calling back tomorrow which I should not have had to do it should have shipped. I called customer service and they assured me it would be one of the first on the truck. The message stayed on my status so I called back and was told the same thing and I would get a confirmation e-mail from Fed X. Next day my status said it would ship when stock was available, so I called again. I was told this time wasn't shipped but its status was ready to be shipped. Noticed that the evening it still said when stock was available. Called again and then they dropped the bomb on me. They blamed their automated system and that my order payment verification didn't get approved to 6:00 pm and that put me past the 2:30 cut off date and I will get my phone on the 23rd. I told them I didn't place my order after 2:30 but in fact eleven in a half hours before that. "Sorry sir there is nothing I can do" the standard answer I have heard from them for years.

Lied to several times and I have seen on the blogs people who ordered there's at 8:00 am got their Droid. Why is it every time I deal with Verizon I get the shaft. They will tell you what you want to hear until it is to late to do something about it, What a cluster *^$#@ If I didn't have two other phones several months away from their contract ending I would own an I phone today and give Verizon the boot I have Been wanting to give them a long time ago.

Exact same thing just happened to me.

Talked to a girl on the phone and she had no answers other than we are sorry sir, then she claimed the phone had shipped and that the online status had never been updated. I asked for tracking info and she had none. Then she recanted her statement and said my order was processed on at 7:45 pm and that it will now not ship untill the 23rd. I placed my order a 5AM. Can someone at verizon explain how it takes more than 12 hours to process an order? How does Verizon mess up this badly? They have no answers what so ever all I would like it an explanation as to what the issue is and when I will see me phone.
