Droid X recalled

My friend in New York is a Verizon dealer called to tell me that the Droid X is recalled due to it not working properly. Ive had a few problems with it myself, but dont feel like playing musical phones with Tech Support. He also informed me they are no longer selling it, and no longer support it. What does that mean if I have a problem with my crap phone?

When I called verizon today, they confirmed it is being dwindled out, but didnt confirm the recall. The rep also stated that they only had 109 in stock there, and that if I had a problem they would probably send me out an X2 or something simular.

But what I want to know is, has anyone gotten any info or letters regarding the recall?

They stopped selling the Droid X when they came out with the Droid X2. This is true of any cell phone model. Once a newer version comes out, the older version is forgotten. As far as a recall, the only reason something is recalled is if it is a hazard. For example, the Toyota's were recalled because of brake issues. I don't believe the Droid X, or any other cell phone is a hazard (except if you're texting while driving. But that's not the phone's fault). I have a Droid X, and have had it for almost two years with no major problems. A few minor, correctable gliches, but no major issues. I would take the recall statement with a grain of salt.

Im thinking your 'friend' in New York is just blowing smoke up your hiney.....there is NOTHING anywhere on the internet mentioning that Motorola has recalled the Droid X.

The problem is not with the phone itself hardware speaking....the problem is with the software and how screwed up Moto has made it. I got my DX in November 2010, and it worked like a champ the who time it had Froyo on it, but in August when they pushed hte upgrade to GB, the phone usability has gone down the proverbial toilet. I have FR'd this phone so many times its not even funny, and even had ALOT of problems without any apps installed other than what the phone comes with from VZW, so the problems are not caused by apps installed by the user as alot of people think they are.

If anything happens for users of this phone, I bet it would be more along the lines of VZW letting customers upgrade without having to first meet normal contractual requirement, but I seriously doubt that Moto would have a recall done on a phone that has software problems and not hardware problems

I have not heard of any recall for the Droid X.

The phone is no longer being sold because it is a discontinued model as it was introduced well over a year ago. Most if not all cell phones will be discontinued models within a year or 2 years at most. When the manufacturers come out with a newer model with newer/better/more features, they normally stop production on an older model.

lol ... I think it's more wishful thinking on some people's part. This thing has entered EOL ...

And Ford just recalled the Edsel, Coke just recalled New Coke and Panasonic recalled my 8-track player. It's a little late for a phone that was EOL 6 months ago.

I agree with Keiffers, gingerbread should have been recalled, not the X.

Personally, my desire to ever buy another Moto phone has been recalled. Period.
