Droid X screen issue

I've noticed a rippling effect in the center of the screen whenever it's cold outside. It also shows up whenever I put a case on the phone. I can even see it without the cover indoors, but its barely visible. Yet the slightest pressure on the batter door and you can clearly see it.

The screen and the phone works fine. But the rippling effect is very annoying and hurts the enjoyment of using the phone. Do the motorola or Verizon extended warranty cover this problem. I'd like to use a case on my phone, but both the body glove and Innocase rugged both create this screen rippling.

Thoughts, opinions are appreciated.

Thanks

Are you using an extended battery with door that came with the battery or are you using the standard door with extended battery?

That's good. We now know that it isn't one possible issue. If you were using the extended battery with the standard door, it will cause an issue that sounds similar to your issue. Gerio can explain the details of that problem.

As for your question, the only thing I can think of is that the cases fit super tight to the phone. Maybe someone else will have any option.

This issue usually comes from the battery having pressure on screen. remove door and see if issue goes away, if it does then taje a pair of plyers and pry the arms on door up and place door back on.

Even with the battery door off, the slightest pressure on either side of the phone will cause the rippling effect.  Again the screen is fully responsive, but clearly has a rippling effect from two different cases and even naked in cold weather.  Is this an issue for a replacement or will the verizon store say since the phone works, tough luck about the screen rippling.

Thanks again for all the responses. :smileyhappy:

Hmm, I just tried pressing around the edges of the back of my X and I can see no evidence of swirlies.

So while no one can say for sure what Verizon will decide, I would say that you have a good case for replacement.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. But mine is twice the size and that ripple even occurs with a naked device whenever it gets very cold outside. Do you think its best to call customer service about a replacement or bring it to a verizon store?

Thanks all.

Thanks to all for the helpful input!

@ timelord:

In order to determine the root cause of the screen issue described in the original post, a physical evaluation is necessary as our customer service representatives will not be able to properly assess this visual issue over the phone. Please visit a Verizon Wireless store and one of our representatives will be able to further assist you. To find a Verizon Wireless store near you please click on the "Store Locator" link on the top right corner of this page.

@Wildman

Did you really post " remove door and see if issue goes away, if it does then taje a pair of plyers and pry the arms on door up and place door back on"

after the original poster already said they were using standard bat. and door.....for that matter

I wonder if your other 2,216 post were that  unintelligent.

You would think the "VZWSupport" would be watching out for post like that....

Along with that and Ill be add my own post on this one, every time someone has a screen issue, people blame the extended battery/cover which apperently has its issues.

Do the people who make these "add ons" (however dysfunctional) think before they start pumping them into the market?

Just wondering :smileyhappy:
