How do you sync the Droid X with Microsoft Office to add contacts and calendar?

You don't. Export them to your Google account and go from there.

You can not synch with Microsoft Office, but if you have Microsoft Outlook, you can synch contacts and calendar with that.

Yes you can sync your Microsoft Outlook Calendar with your Google calendar but not without 3rd party software. It is easier, if you can to just give yourself in to the Google experience. There is also software out there that will syncs your Microsoft Outlook contacts with Google but I haven't been able to find any that don't charge. If you know of any free software please do share.

You can synch directly with Outlook without any third party apps.

Ah, I believe you are referring to Microsoft Exchange. I on the other hand am referring to Microsoft Outlook 2007, that my friend is where the difference is.
