Droid X = terrible

I am now on my 5th replacement Droid X phone.  All replaced for issues with the software or hardware of the phone.  Each one seems to get worse and worse.  My current replacement phone has rendered my car dock useless as the GPS does not function.  It won't lock in on where I am and if it does its only for a couple of minutes before it looses me.  I have hard reset my phone, wiped the sd card, and calibrated the compass multiple times and nothing has worked.  The WiFi signal is also terrible with most of time receiving only one bar.  After the most hard reset and sd card wipe the phone is lagging without even installing any apps.  Extremely frustrating that I am stuck with this phone for another year.

I did find a fix from reading this forum that if you remove the battery cover the WiFi and GPS will work.  It does work but who wants to travel around without a battery door on?

It however does not fix the lagging of the phone.

Beyond frustrated just want a phone that works.

Is anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Sorry for the multiple posting, the browser kept teeling me that the post could not complete so I tried a few times until I gave up....  To my surprise when I looked I see that it posted every one...  I removed all copies to keep the site clean..

I didn't notice the double post until about a hour later so the emails was probably sent before I removed the post.

I apologize for this being "off topic" but this new forum layout may be prettier but it is not very intuitive when it comes to using and navigating the forum.

it's difficult, can't see what phone op actually has, no location for those who show it, no sig anymore, need to follow to pm, ad nauseum......

I agree, it still need some refining because it is lacking compared to the older design, at first I just though it was because it was new and diffrent but I have concluded it isnt  that... They removed a bunch of usefull informations and catagory..

I am hoping they bring back the group catagory for like apps and also add information for the poster device information, that information was so useful when you was attempting to give the correct information for the users device.

Hopefully they are not finish with the design..  Oh and also the site is a real resource hog, I can not run it on my mobile device without FC or lockups and when I have the site open in the backgroud on my desktop other web pages load slower.

A couple updates to my situation:

1. have succesfully traveled to destinations without the battery cover on my phone

2.  wifi signal is awesome without battery cover on phone

3.  phone is lagging inbetween screens and is constantly freezing for anywhere from 3-20 seconds when trying to unlock the screen and when opening any application including the browser and text messaging.

4.  Screen will light up and show there is a call but will not let you slide the green icon across the screen to answer

5.  phone reboots when placed in car dock

6.  screen will light up but will be unresponsive to touch - have to press the top button and then home to get it to react to touch

As far as the sluggishness & non-responsiveness:  If reproducible, does it behave the same way in SAFE MODE? If it does NOT, you likely have an APP causing your grief. Do you have a TASK KILLER installed? Do you have a Live Wallpaper? Active Widgets that auto-update constantly?  All can contribute to the symptoms you're seeing.

The lag literally started after I set the phone up after wiping my SD card and doing a factory reset without any apps installed beyond factory. The only widget I use is the calendar and weather factory Widgets. No task killer used.

Vzwsupport contacted me and i will be on device 6 tomorrow...

thanks usually the 3rd times a charm but maybe x2 it will be. Makes me wish i would have stuck with my of dx and dealt with the browser issues that started this cycle... Wish blackberry would get up to speed with there web experience i.e. flash i would just go back as I've been so frustrated with this dx my old tour is calling my name...

just to add to the battery door being off improvements you can add bluetooth reception to that.  Was on the treadmill with the battery door off never lost bluetooth signal walked away from the treadmill and it stayed in reception.

Congrats, I think ..  Smiley Happy   I wouldn't install any 3rd Party Apps for a while -- just to make sure those aren't contributing to your issues.  IMHO ...   Good luck.

I spoke to a tech at verizon and they told me that the OTA update was supposed to help some of these issues, Funny thing tho, My DROID was completely fine before the update. All I have is problems everyday now. Slow, lagging, mind of its own stuff. very slow response to input, keyboard especially and very very slow at times when nopthing is even going on, like updates or running services.

Welcome to the thread ...  So, the 1st thing I'd have to ask is whether you read the earlier part of this thread - or any of the other ones pertaining to the GB OTA update?  That update definitely introduced symptoms as you described for many people. You should seriously consider just biting the bullet and doing a Factory Reset - since "All I have is problems everyday now.". if after doing so you STILL experience the same issues, time to look at the APPS you installed -- run in SAFE MODE just to rule out APPs vs. the GB OS.  Good luck.

restored to froyo 2.2 which was very very smooth and fast, no glitches for me , (Edited to comply with TOS) it was just the oem stuff. all that crap verizon has locked on there that always runs, i dont use social networking or facebook or vz nav or any of that crap thats always running. Liberty has nothing but the basics and thats it and its very smooth. and I can boost the cpu to 1300 mhz if I wish.
