Droid X = terrible

I am now on my 5th replacement Droid X phone. All replaced for issues with the software or hardware of the phone. Each one seems to get worse and worse. My current replacement phone has rendered my car dock useless as the GPS does not function. It won't lock in on where I am and if it does its only for a couple of minutes before it looses me. I have hard reset my phone, wiped the sd card, and calibrated the compass multiple times and nothing has worked. The WiFi signal is also terrible with most of time receiving only one bar. After the most hard reset and sd card wipe the phone is lagging without even installing any apps. Extremely frustrating that I am stuck with this phone for another year.
I did find a fix from reading this forum that if you remove the battery cover the WiFi and GPS will work. It does work but who wants to travel around without a battery door on?
It however does not fix the lagging of the phone.
Beyond frustrated just want a phone that works.
Is anyone else experiencing similar problems?

"5TH", strange because last summer into the fall, folks with dx problems were getting it replaced with the dx2.
sorry to say but it sounds like they're sending out old dx's that were replaced for problems.
supposedly cpo's are gone thru before being sent out as replacements.

The company was giving the DX2 only when they did not have any replacement droid x to ship out but since a number of users started to report issues with their device to get the change in devices they stopped doing this.
Thank the ones that milked the system, I believe situations like this is the reason for the change on how replacement devices are being handled..

I have received replacement devices before and the none of the devices had issues with it. My Droid X is still moving right along and its a replacement that I received when I accidentally damaged the charger port.
I guess I am just a lucky one...

Count me lucky as well ... After 15 months mine's still humming along -- albeit with the AutoPower-back-Up issue.g., & a couple of buggy APPS that the Devs can't seem to fix (eg., LPP); but putting it into SLEEP mode every night gets around that.

I'm on replacement number 3. Less than a year for me. 😞 I am not one of the lucky ones.

My X goes to sleep and doesn't wake up. It's always a pleasant surprise to
check my phone and see no notifications. Then I send a text and the phone
goes crazy with notifications. So, check my voicemail, though i am showing
no missed calls and no voicemails and lo and behold, I'll have
voicemails.
The Verizon tech thought I was nuts until he called my phone from the store
phone, it went to voicemail, he left a voicemail and my phone did nothing.
Verizon will not offer an upgrade or downgrade, but they will keep
replacing my X. I'm waiting for #4 to arrive tomorrow.
Supposedly mine is a software error. Somehow I've managed to have it
happen with 3 phones, consecutively.
It's not app related as the last 2 have not had any new apps installed.

Mine will go to sleep as well and the only way to get it awake is to pop the battery.
Have you tried that *228 and update your roaming?

why do you choose to have it go to sleep?

I don't when it acts up. I will be just using it lock it with the top button and it'll do nothing. Pull the battery put it back in and it works.

the top/power button turns off display, airplane, sleep mode or shutdown so if it's going to sleep, you're doing it.

Would you prefer I call it unresponsive? Either way the screen is black as if its sleeping.

I don't choose to have mine go to sleep. If it's inactive for about a half
hour, it goes to sleep.
I've yet to have to pop the battery.
I've tried the *228 and I've tried a factory reset. The techs at the
verizon store have done the same and more.
It's just simply unreliable.
Like I said, Verizon is sending my 4th. They insist it is a software
issue.

If I am reading correctly when you say goes to sleep you are just speaking of when the screen turns off and not the sleep option that you get when you long press power button and click sleep, if this is correct I am wondering if you are using a task killer on your device because the option to close apps when device back light turns off and I have seen this cause issues because it sometimes close system apps and this causes the device to lockup...
Try removing the task killer if you have one or check and make sure system apps are added to the excluded list..

That's a strange one, well no device is perfect but I could see one device having issue or maybe two (Slim Chance) but when multiple devices experience issues there has to be a common factor on each device that could cause these issues..
Its kind of like the car that makes rattling noise all the time but never does it when you take it to a mechanic... Its hard to identify the problem without seeing the problem. I know you only have a few apps but have you tried removing all apps and run device just with stock software to isolate the problem isn't a OS issue?

did a factory reset and SD card wipe yesterday. GPS still didn't work and it was lagging something fierce. The sleep issue has come once. Its more of a lag and lack of GPS and wifi signal pickup that frustrates me the most.
