Well the problem returned yesterday. One thing I did notice is if I turn the phone off and plug it in to charge the phone will never have the issue of turning itself back on. So I think the sleep mode feature that was mentioned before is playing a role in this somehow.

We have forwarded your information to Motorola. They were able to duplicate the issue on their end.
As of 7/29/11 we have learned that it will be corrected with MR6 update. At this point, a target release date for this update is mid-August.
As soon as more information becomes available, we will be sure to post it here.
In the interim, if are turning the device off to avoid notification tones during your slumber, you may want to put the device on silent until we get the resolution.

I finally reached Motorola Level 3 today after trying since 21 July. HOWEVER, the Level 3 Tech today did not have any knowledge base information concerning this issue of the Droid X turning itself back on after being turned off (POWER OFF) except for my Motorola case #110721-000693. The Level 3 Tech did say she was going to refer my issue to the Support Engineers and that she would call me back NLT Friday, 5 Aug 2011 with whatever information that the Support Engineers provided in response to her escallation of the issue. Therefore, I can only hope that you (VZH) have a direct line to the Support Engineers (Developers) at Motorola and that your information that the issue has been isolated and that a fix is actually forthcoming. For the fix to be in the 'mid-August' timeframe would be great but just knowing for sure that Motorola recognizes the issue and is working it is even greater. HOWEVER, as I previously said, Motorola DOES NOT HAVE ANY of their customer-facing technical support personnel in on the "secret" and none of them knows anything about a "self initiated power-on" issue except for my case number. When I get a call back on Friday, I will post an update and hopefully my update will coincide with your information.
TamaraH, can you shed more light on your knowledge of MR6 coming in mid-August? Is your source a good one?

Re: Phone restarting on its own after I turn it off
OK Folks, here is the Friday 5 Aug update from my call-back from Motorola Level 3. The Level 3 Tech said that the Support Engineers told her that they were still looking into the issue and didnt have any specific update but that they expected to have something by next week. The Level 3 Tech said she would call me back on Tuesday, 9 Aug 2011.
Well, it wasnt what I was looking for but at least this specific Motorola Level 3 Tech is following up with me -- we'll see what takes place next Tuesday. The one troubling thing is that this response sort of indicates that what TamaaraH, the Verizon Tech, provided isnt panning out too well -- if Verizon thinks that there is a MR6 coming in mid-August, my discussions with Motorola isnt validating that thought.
