Droid and data roaming in the US

Hi,

I live in the Milwaukee Metro area and at my house I keep getting droid notifications saying my data connection has been dropped because I left my home network and I don't have data roaming  enabled in settings:

 

Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile network->Data Roaming

 

If I enable this the notifications stop, but I have no idea if I am getting changed data roaming even though I am still in the US in a major metro area.

 

anyone know what the deal is with the data roaming while you are stil in the US?  If I check that option what carrier is it data roaming with? Sprint?

 

By the way I get really poor 3g reception with the droid at my house, really bad.
