I have a Thudenrbolt at the moment and i am thinking of getting a Droid charge instead,

I was wondering if I need to get a new simcard or I can just pop in my thunderbolts simcard in the Droid charge ?

The Fascinate doesn't have a SIM card slot like the 4G LTE phones and devices.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I would have to say the SIM is tied to your account, so you wouldn't need a new one, the phone reads the SIM number from the card.. I'm also not sure if you still need to do "ESN" swaps like the usual CDMA phones (when you change your phone for another).. These 4G phones have IMEI's like GSM phones so I'm not sure if they require anything to change on the account end.

i had the thunderbolt then bought the charge and they made me get a new sim card....the sales girl said you could NOT swap sim cards....however, after i got home, i put the sim card from the charge into the thunderbolt and it worked fine... i swap phones all the time, so she was apparently wrong...so from my experience, you can just swap the sim in and out of the different 4g phones :smileyhappy:

What about going from facinate to charge?  If I put the Charge sim in the Facinate will it work (at 3g obviously) and then can I put it back in the Charge and have it work?

Hi everyone!

Thanks for the contributions!

You're all correct. SIM cards can be swapped between devices on the same line. Say you have a 4G device and give it to another person, then that person will need a new SIM. But you're golden if you just swap on your line.

And yes, the Fascinate isn't a 4G device, so no SIM card slot. Smiley Happy

Thanks again everyone!

well lets say I want to re-activate my droid x that I have been really putting thought back into since Im on a fine line of 4G. Currently on the charge. Say I want to swap yet again back to my charge can I REUSE the same simcard that stays in it??? Would like to know that answere before I make my final decision. Thanks!

I think so. I have successfully switched from the Tbolt to an Eris (3G CDMA only) and back to the Tbolt without getting a new SIM card. Granted the Eris was only active for a few hours.

Perhaps a VZW employee here can clarify.

Yes, the switch to the Droid Eris was done via MyVerizon account on the website. The switch back to the Tbolt was started on the website, but I made a mistake and the website said I needed to call in so I ended up calling customer service with another phone. Got it all straighten out. There is a thread in the Tbolt forum under Android section of this community detailing the experience.

Cool. Thanks. Yeah because I dont know how much more I can take of this data dropping problem on my Charge. My Droid X never dropped data signal. Like I stated, it might be because I am on a FINE line of 4G I think I'm actually only in the extended coverage area so as of now my data on the Charge is garbage. Wanting to see how my DX has been doing since it's been sitting in the box for about a month now. Only problem is, it's a "like-new" refurb. Good thing is, I'll have the Charge at my side if the DX lags up on me again. Thanks again! Wish me LUCK!

Success!!! Back on DX. Running GREAT too BTW. Oh and since I'm back on my only 3G it had told me that my SIM for the other phone would be disconected in 90 days. So I'm sure I'll know which phone I'll be sticking with by then. So thats cool that I get that long of a time to decide. Hope this helps anyone else with questions as to how this whole thing goes. Thanks again too for the replys. Made me feel more confident in switching with no stress!!!:smileyvery-happy:
