Droid email duplicates from Verizon email

Help. I've had my Droid for 6 months and I continually receive duplicate emails on my Droid from my verizon.net account. I delete it from my Droid but it comes back (when I refresh it) two, three, four times, etc... I have clicked "delete from server" as well as have used the K-9 application from the marketplace.
It's getting very bothersome to continue to delete the emails once I read it on my Droid to have them show up again and again. I don't receive duplicate emails on the verizon website (email) or my Microsoft Outlook emails - only on my Droid.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I've done everything I can think of as well as googling the question and nothing has worked so far. Verizon Wireless has not had any luck either....
Thanks

Since this error only occurs on your Droid I would assume that it is a system error. I recommend performing a factory reset to clear out all settings. The steps to do this are listed below:
Performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications.
Follow the directions below to perform a hard reset:
- From the home screen, touch the Applications tab (located on the bottom of the screen).
- Touch Settings.
- Touch Privacy.
- Touch Factory data reset.
- Touch Reset phone.
- Touch Erase Everything

Thanks for the information but is this the only way to do this is by deleting all data which includes my contacts, apps, email accounts, etc?
If I bring it to a Verizon wireless store, perhaps they can do something other than losing all of my data? Sounds like there should be an easier way? I've shut my phone down, taken out the battery and then powered it back up and it still didn't help. I have spoken to customer service and they haven't been able to help.
Please advise if this is the only solution and perhaps I'll go to the Verizon wireless store and get another phone?

As far as clearing out the system error this is the only solution. Your contacts are automatically backed up by Google and Backup Assistant so the only thing you will lose are you email accounts. You can go to the market and download http://www.appbrain.com/ to back up all your applications and have them re-downloaded once your reset is complete. Keep in mind all applications are from third party users and are download at your own risk. This however will work successfully so that once you have performed the reset the only thing you will need to do is re-download appbrain to reload all your applications and re-enter your email account information.

Yes, I've tried everything, even the factory reset and I'm continuing to receive duplicates. I might bring it into the Verizon Wireless store tomorrow to see if they can help.
I've deleted the trash folder, sent folder, emails on the server and they continue to come through in duplicates and triplicates, even after I've deleted it on my Droid.
Very frustrating but thanks for trying.

I continue to have the same problem. Now I often receive a "Connection error" and I can not receive any email. All suggestions are appreciated.

I had the same issue up until a few weeks ago. Someone fixed something and just didn't tell me.
I would have to go to my Yahoo account and delete or move the emails from my inbox before they would stop re-appearing in my Droid email inbox. I did NOT do a hard reset.
