Droid keyboard bubbling/bowed

strawberripocky

I've had my Droid since May, so it's only been about 6 months. I use and type on it regularly, and the keyboard's buttons have bubbled up and the entire keyboard looks bowed if you look at the phone at an angle (this also causes it to make clicking noises while typing!). This makes it extremely uncomfortable to type on and has been hurting my thumbs the past couple weeks since it's been getting worse, and for what I paid for this phone, it just seems to be unacceptable. I would have gotten an Incredible, but I wanted the physical keyboard. My last phone was an enV2 and I had absolutely no problems with the keyboard.

I've also noticed a tinny static noise on the other end while I'm talking to someone or when I dial into voicemail, it used to be crystal clear. I love this phone, I don't have many other complaints otherwise, but what can I do? It's still within factory warranty obviously but I don't want to wind up with a bum CLNR, because I've heard of people getting something even worse than what they had. At this point though, it's painful to type on my keyboard. Have they fixed this keyboard issue on the Like-New Replacements, or will a replacement phone eventually have the same issue?

It just seems like your phone got fried. Over heated some how. You need to call verizon support and get a warranty replacement.

I like the bubbly keyboard. I tought i was supposed to be like that? I can feel the keys and I like the clicking noise. I have seen other droids that the keyboard is flat and I find it uncomfortable. I guess mine is defective but I like it. Works fine.

After months of dealing with this and a number of replacement phones I have the answer to what is happening. 1. It has nothing to do with keyboard use (I have a friend that uses his keyboard far more than I but does not have the problem 2. It is the amount of time your phone runs hot... (ie... using Navigation, Trapster, Sirius/Xm radio and the like that keep the screen on) 3. The keyboard is not able to handle the heat and bubbles up. 4. At first it will seem like a blessing as the keys are easier to hit but 5. Eventually you will notice that the buttons will have lag and make snapping noises and you will have to push extra times to make contact with the keys... 6. Verizon always acts like it is a surprise that this is happening (or that I'm the only one dealing with it) and they have replaced my phone twice for this problem but now it is out of warranty so I thought I would have to replace the phone and then... I happened upon a replacement keyboard on ebay. (No offence to Verizon but they sell replacement keyboards online cheap--- $7 ish) http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-New-QWERTY-Motorola-A855-Droid-Keyboard-Repair-Part-/180647581126?pt=LH_Defa... It peels off like a sticker and the new one sticks right one and works like a champ. I reworded my statement above in case I was breaking the TOS (Public service announcement) search for droid keyboard on a popular auction site and you can find a replacement for under $7. Works like a champ!!! Enjoy
