Droid takes ridiculously long time to charge through USB?

I've noticed that my droid seems to take a really long time to charge when using the USB charger for the computer.   Is this the same for everyone else?  I had a LG EnV Touch before this and I always charged it only through the laptop because I'm always near it when I'm home and my outlets are all behind furniture or in weird places(and the cord is so short).  Just wondering if this was normal.  I still love the phone!

USB always will trickle charge any phone.

The Droid is more power hungry then typical cells so the amount of trickle charge compared to the drain usage make for a longer charge timeframe.

If you use a power hungry application, the phone will actually warn you to use an AC adaptor charger as the USB doesn't keep up.

Charging via your computer's USB will be slower than charging via a wall outlet because the power output from your USB port is much lower than what a wall charger puts out.

I use a wall outlet behind my bed to charge my phone every night. I just got a charger with a long enough cord to reach, set it up so I can plug my phone in and set it on my night stand, and never unplug the charger. (I know, not very energy-saving, but it saves having to move the bed every night.)
