My slider is not working when I answer my phone. It then goes to voice mail. Is there some way I can remedy this. I don't know if re-booting it will help or what can I do?

What do you mean by "slider?" If you mean the lock which you have to swipe from left to right, you can download an apps called "No Lock" which will keep the phone unlocked at all times.
And if you do mean the lock, you don't have to unlock your phone to answer it. Just press the green icon.

Actually they have to slide the slider to right to answer the call or to left decline it.with the stock application, I perfer using "NO LOCK" with Widget Locker myself because it has more options and more customizable...
While it is true that you have to use the sliders to answer or decline a call when your phone is locked and you get a call, if your phone is unlocked and you're say, in the middle of writing a text or playing a game, you only need to press the green answer or red decline.
