Droidx replacement drama...

I don't know what to say about these warranty replacements they send out stating that the phones are in "new condition..." I have received (2) driodx within the pass 2 days. They all had a loose camera button that didn't activate the camera and the 2nd came without restored factory settings then power cycled on me when I tried to reset to factory settings... Just makes me wonder what kind of process these phones go thru when they are being refurb'd... I guess thats why the droidx2 won't come with a camera button. Anyway I'm crossing my fingers for my 3rd replacement phone tomorrow, wish me luck.

Good luck...   When I went through a similar ordeal a month or so ago, phone  #3 ( 2 replacement cycles) was a winner...

I guess I am a lucky one, my one and only replacement came and was flawless, I wish you luck on the next one because I know it can be frustrating but I am sure they will get you taken care of...

I'm definitely sad to hear you've been thru so many replacements. Our certified like new phones do go thru a 100 point inspection process and are checked for both physical and software issues. We do recognize that sometimes some may get thru the cracks that still have a problem, but should not be as excessive as the problem you are having. Please let us know if the current replacement is working okay for you or if you need any further assistance.

Join the club...went through 7 replacements myself. One of them had the previous user's screen protector still installed on it. 100 point inspection my a**!

Just gotta be firm but polite and tell them you won't be satisfied until you have a properly working phone.

I respectfully beg to differ, speaking from personal experience.  Having had to receive a refurbished phone (not a droid, different model), only to have it be defective - 4 times in a row until I gave up to purchase a new one ... I'm kind of doubting the "inspection process" at all.  Each of the 4 times there were different problems.  That is really just unacceptable, yet you always hear that "inspection process" line.  Never again will I accept a refurbished phone, I promise you that.

well my saga continues i finally have gotten through to corporate and here is what she offered me to begin with ....now keep in mind all i asked for was either a new droidx not a cpo ...or a phone that is equal to it (same specs "roughly")

she said well we have the htc imagio and she tried to sell me on this 3yr old windows phone was on par with the x.....no even with a buggy x it isnt close

then she said well i have a palm phone we can send you i said tell me about it she goes well it isnt touchscreen so right away i know this phone is more outdated than the imagio seeing as how the only palms verizon has had in 2 years were both touch screens

then she offers the droid eris ( hey at least its android lol) again i refuse i mean come on really?

i asked if she really considered phones that were all discontinued a year ago on par with a phone that came out less than a year ago. ...

she finally offers a droid 2 ......so can anyone give me any pointers here never really used a droid 2 are there any glaring issues? is it even recieving 2.3? am i slighting myself if i take this phone over my x which i love but just am having horrible luck with?

My son has the Droid 2.  It's slightly smaller (screen size) but has the pull out keyboard - which makes it a little heavier.  It seems identical in all other ways to my X... but I'll admit I didn't (and can't right now) look at the version numbers and stuff.  He loves it.  i love my X.

My wife has the Droid 2 Global that I bought her for Christmas. she likes the physical keyboard better than my Droid X soft keyboard. I do not like the smaller screen myself.... Once I got used the to the 4.3 in screen, a 3.5 in screen doesn't work for me.

We just got a second replacement for her phone. The original she got at Christmas had a problem with resetting when trying to dial a number from Contacts. Not consistantly, but enough to **bleep** her off when it happened. I did a couple of factory resets, and finally went in to get a replacement.

The first replacement phone, the gap between the screen and the keyboard was terrible. Back to the store and got a second replacement the next day. The gap was not as noticiable, but it was a hair bigger than the original phone.

So far, no problems noted. She is able to make calls without the reset for far.

Personally, I would get another replacement X until they finally get it right. But that is my personal opinion.

And yes, I still have my original Droid X I got at launch. I seemed to have gotten lucky enough to get a good one.

Hopefully you will get a good phone soon. /Fingers Crossed/

The Droid 2 Global is receiving gingerbread in the next week or two. Currently in the soak test process.

Not sure when the Droid 2 (CDMA only) will get Gingerbread.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
