I'm getting very frustrated with my Droid chage. I'm constantly having to reboot my phone. The issues I'm having:
- I'm on a call, I can hear who I'm talking to but they can't hear me
- My call will freeze where I have to reboot
- Loud screaching on my end
- Who I'm talking to have complained I sound like a robot or like I'm talking out of a tin can, I reboot it solves the issue
- Dropped calls when call switches from 4G to 3G. If I force 3G, it then switches from 3G to 1X and drops the call.
I'm to the point where I want to throw the phone against a brick wall or smash it into pieces. I have talked to the store where I purchased my phone and my phone just has the basics on it right now. They say they haven't heard of this issue but after reading up on this phone, I realize it's a common thing. I'm afraid to call and get a "refurbished" phone. What other options are there and what solutions have people come up with? I'm sick of rebooting my phone constantly. Sometimes it's more than 10 times a day.
I just seen an android come out for Straight talk and close to switching to that as I'm really frustrated with this phone.

I have these same problems. Have been into the Verizon store twice. Last time they told me to enter *228 on my phone (like a placed call), periodically. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. Especially when I receive a call, I don't know if I'll have a clear conversation or not ! Very frustrating.
Shouldn't have to do this at all with this phone !

This is the worst phone I have ever owned.....
Everything you have said is identical to my experience....but wait there's more....
6. GPS is constantly searching and works about 30% of the time....rebooting rarely works here
7. It loses connectivity with Bluetooth devices and you hear every other word......time to reboot
8. Totally inconsistent data network connectivity. You see the 4G/3G/1x symbols disappear even with full bars....reboot or just wait until the data fairy returns your expensive data signal.
9. Phone just freezes when it has to do more than one thing at a time.....reboot city
10. Need I say more.....Don't by this phone
I have already gotten a replacement (refurbishment) phone which actually was worse that my original. I went to the Verizon store where magically everything works and they gave me attitude like I was crazy or my favorite reply after I came in almost crying "it's just a phone". Just a phone? We are way beyond that reponse in 2011 buddy. It's not a phone...it's a mini computer that plays Angry Birds and Poker alright but can't make or keep a decent call....it's NOT just a phone....its NOT even a phone.

I get the same thing, but after the screeching/fax sound my only choice is to end the call. When I try to place another call, I can hear the other person, but they can't hear me at all and the only way I can use my phone again is to reboot the phone which takes about 2-4 minutes.
Anyone know is there's a software fix or something?

DC5 & MBKer too,
Because of the 40 minute call, it sounds like a low battery problem especially if her Charge phone has been working well up to this problem occurring. And even more so if she has not had this problem before.
To bad she was not next to her charger because it would have been interesting to see if the fax/modem noise would go away if she had immediately plugged in the charger and just continued on with the same call.
If it is convenient put the speaker on and plug in for long calls.

Did any of you folks in this thread ever try this or is it just to much trouble to try it???
Plug your phone into the 110 volt 1 amp charger that came with your phone. Go to bed. Leave it plugged in overnight.
Next morning: leave the phone plugged into the charger and use your phone while the charger in still plugged in. Run all those things that are failing in your phone to see if they now work okay with a fully charged battery and with the 110 volt 1 amp charger plugged into the phone.
If any of your phones problems now work okay, GET A NEW BATTERY!!!
If there is no change it's not the battery.
If you do this please let us know your results.
JerryF
PS, If you do get a new battery charge it overnight BEFORE using it in your phone.

Jerry,
I have issues if I change the phone or don't charge the phone. That was my initial thought was the battery, not the phone. I even ordered a new battery.
Thanks for posting your fix as I'm sure it will help some people!

Sorry Jerry for the delay but I had to wait for my new battery to come in. As some of the issues have been resolved, it just froze on me again this morning. I had to reboot. We will see how it is in another week. I will try and keep you posted.

DC5 said: Oh I don't refuse at all good sir, that is what my wife and I do with our phones, every night ....
WOW...both you and your wife run my battery test every night. I am impressed. Please, what were your results for each phone?
Were your batteries good or bad?

Kaliki123 & everyone else experiencing this issue, I can understand your frustration over these issues. We have seen other reports of audio issues, freezing & dropped calls on the Charge and we are working on a software release as a permanent fix. I do not have a date for when the software will be released. I did send information to our product team that other users were still having this issue. Once a software released is released, it will be pushed automatically to your device.

Yeah, the fax, squealing sounds have nothing to do with the battery. I used to experience this all the time even when the phone was plugged in. I don't have this problem anymore since I put 2.3.6 on the phone. 2.2.1 used to have this problem every 1-2 days, and it was the most irritating thing this phone ever had. Learn how to flash your phone, you will be glad you did.

Yeah, screw verizon, and flash away. I can fully say that I am much happier with this phone now that it has 2.3.6 on it. It's so much faster. I think there will always be a few bugs no matter what you use, but this update made huge strides in a lot of the issues.
