I cannot figure out how to dump earthlink emails in the trash folder, except one-by-one. There are now over 5,000 in there and it seriously compromises my droid! Can anyone help?
The stock email app is rather limited. I would recommend K-9 Mail as a replacement (free on the Android Market). The method for emptying trash in K-9 is not quite as elegant as I would like, but it works! Long press on the account folder and select "empty trash" from the account options menu. Under the stock mail program your only solution for deleting 5,000 messages at once is to clear the cache under manage applications option. Look for "email" under the "all" tab. Alternatively you can reset your email by choosing "clear data" instead, but you will have to renenter your mail settings as you will be starting over from scratch. IF you do go with K-9 mail, you will want to clear data as K-9 uses a seperate database and the stock mail program will continue to run and take up data storage space unless you clear data and leave the settings empty.
Good luck, I have earthlink as well and this issue drove me nuts until I switched to K-9!
