Email Account not in My Accounts list?

My Droid X has gone thru at least 2 system updates since I got it as far as I can remember.  All normal updates OTA with no rooting, etc.  Currently on 2.3.3 Android at System 4.5.596 MB810.Version.en.US

Recently I went looking to change some parameters on one of my email accounts but I discovered something interesting.  Not sure how long it has been there.

When I click on the messaging icon, I see a Universal Inbox, text, and 5 email accounts as I expected.  If I click on "Edit Universal Inbox", it shows 6 check boxes of 5 email and 1 text account.  So far everything is normal.

But if I click on "Manage Accounts", I see only 4 email accounts + 2 Google accounts.  So where is my 5th email account which I use as my primary and how do I modify my missing email account?.  It I try to add it in, it complains it is a duplicate so something knows it is there but it does not show under the "My accounts" page.

So how do I make visible, a hidden email account so I can modify it?  I tried wiping the cache but saw no changes as it is still missing.  I would appreciate some recommendations on what to try now before I go for the factory reset.  Thanks.  Andy

I have seen this from time to time when the restoring email settings from a backup....  GB seems to handle emails a bit differently that causes this and sometime clearing data on the Account Storage 2.3.3 and then you will have to enter all accounts back in.... The only other solution is a hard reset and manual input data..

i feel your pain.

after gb, my default email cox/az wasn't listed in my acc'ts and yahoo was my default email when i clicked on the email icon.

i removed yahoo and started to create the cox acc't but after a few entries was told the acc't already existed.

sure enough, when i hit the email icon it took me into cox and fortunately, login/pw/servers were ok, as i could send/receive.

i asked verizon cs and they had no idea where it's located.

not sure what i'd have done if i'd needed to re-enter server addresses.

Yes, send and receive works as expected. The missing account happens to be my primary account. 99 percent download and only an occasional reply via the droid but it does work. The problem I am trying to correct is I am identified as ME at the destination address and people are complaining they don't know who me is? This is when I discovered the hidden account in trying to change the visible name.

Went into local Verizon store today and asked.  Hard reset was all they could recomment. Not ready to do that yet.

Thanks.  Andy

i doubt if a hard reset will make the account show but who knows.

it's not worth my time to re-configure everything and no guarantee that the cox account will appear.

i've chased this with a few tech folks at verizon and the cox/pop3 account doesn't showup in accounts but is the default email and works like it's supposed to.

for me, leave well enough alone.
