Ok I understand now, you need to have tethering enabled on your phone.  After this you can connect to your phone's hotspot via Wifi.  Be aware you are limited to 5GB of data, and that can be eaten up within a couple of days of regular home computer use.

If you want to do a wired tether you can use a couple of different apps, but I do believe you still have to pay extra on your bill.

WOW!  thanks. Good to know. That was the first question I've ever had the nerve to ask, cause I knew I would sound stupid like I did lol.  :smileyhappy:  But how else do I learn!

Don't be afraid to ask questions.  We just might need to ask questions back in case we don't understand the question.

Verizon Wireless Wifi would come from a Verizon Wireless Mifi Device or using the 3G Mobile Hotspot Feature on a device that is mobile hotspot capable.   If you are at home and have a  wireless connection set up, you would be using  your home's wireless connection.   Wifi settings on your Motorola Droid X would allow  you to connect to your home wireless connection.  If you want to use the 3G Mobile Hotspot feature you would have to add that feature to your line.

The 3G Mobile Hotspot application provides access for up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices including notebooks, Netbooks, MP3 players, cameras, portable gaming systems, etc.

  • $20.00 monthly recurring charge.
  • 2 GB monthly data allowance applies to all data transmitted (on handset and shared devices) while the mobile hotspot application is active.
  • $20 / 1 GB Overage Rate.
  • $29.99 or higher datapackage required.
