Excessive temperature for the Droid X, what is it?

I have the Battery Monitor app by Scary Alien that besides showing the battery charge in 1% increments, also monitors the temperature.
It will warn you when the temperature exceeds a certain amount. You can set the threshold anywhere between 23C and 55C. I currently have mine set at 37C. But my question is, at what temperature would it be considered excessive?
I actually think maybe 37C is a little low because when I use GPS it always seams to exceed 37C. However, I do have the windshield mount and the phone is in the sun if I'm driving in the right direction. But the GPS does need "line of sight" to the satelites to work best.... and there doesn't seam to be any detrimental effects to the phone operation even when the temp gets into the 40C+ range.
Anyone got any "words of wisdom" on the subject?

Have you done any other things to your device to maybe make it a bit faster?
I've read where some people have seen their devices go as high as 120 degrees. I have mine set to warn me when it hits 111 degrees.

Nope, haven't done anything to speed up my phone....
111F = 43C so maybe I'll set the warning to 43C and see how it does next time I use GPS. I really don't think a temp of 43C would be detrimental to the X. I was just wondering about what other X owners opinions.
Thanks,

Mine gets very hot when in use as well. I don't use the GPS feature, but if I use mine for about 5-10 minutes, it starts getting very noticably hot through the case. I suppose it also doesn't help that I live in Arizona.
