Droid 2 Global here....nothing is working automatically for email.
My corporate email is an Exchange 2007 SP3 setup. I've experienced the same problems as everyone has described, it just stops updating. I finally decided to try Touchdown and am running the 30 day trial - within the first day its already failed just like the native email app. Iphones and non-Moto Android devices all work fine.
Touchdown works for a bit, then stops. Coprorate sync works, then stops. One works and the other doesn't. They both work occasionally, but neither work just as often.
How Motorola can keep releasing phones without basic email support working is pretty sad.

Opening email and manually synching is the only way to get messages reliably.
