On the 16th of this month I awoke to discover that my Droid 1 had an "update available" screen on it. I selected "update" or "update now" or what ever corresponded to accepting and installing the update that I've been waiting for. After about 20 minutes of a frozen screen with no response I once again selected "update". The update did not download, or happen. The phone sit's at 2.1, and Verizon has pushed me off to Motorola. Motorola is trying to tell me that my phone should be at 2.2, but cannot or will not update the darn thing. Anybody else experience "service" like this?
Yes, I understand that I can manually install the update(s), but I don't feel that I should have to. I've been a loyal customer of Verizon since they were AirTouch, and this is honestly the poorest excuse for service that I've experienced.

What error where you getting when trying to do a manual install? Are you sure the filename was update.zip and not update.zip.zip?
