Frustrated with Email Set-up

I changed from Blackberry to a Droid X  because I rarely use the email which makes the blackberry so great.  Rarely, not never.

 

I attempted to set up my work email (not gmail).

 

I have been receiving emails, without issue.  However, yesterday, while not in the office, I needed to urgently reply and found I could not.  Not good!

 

I checked everything compared to my outlook and it was correct.

 

outgoing settings:

Pop 3

(smtp) Mail.optonline.net

Username: First.Last@company.com (it is not end "optonline.net")

Password: Verified.

 

I tried everything I could think of.  I used Port 25.  Port 587 that was reccoemnded via google..  I used first.last with and without the "@company.com." 

 

It is really getting annoying and quite honestly, I'm ready to send it back.  I need to be able to send emails.

 

Any help will be greatly appreciated.  I do not want to use any 3rd party software.  Is this an optimum online (Cablevision) issue?  A company issue?  A Verizon issue?  A motorola issue?  Am I doing somethign wrong?
