Ok all you Verizon support people I see posting here... Was the Gingerbread update pulled to fix the (embarrassing really) bugs, or not? If so, when will we see the update now? Or if not, how much longer to push the update out, I'm still waiting...

I'm strongly considering going to iPhone. This is **bleep** that there's no support for people screwed over by this Android update.

Sure, I'll bump this post too... still no update here. What's the deal Verizon? Update pulled to fix your mistakes? Your customer would like to know...

Hey Verizon!! You awake!
It's been two weeks now since the update started rolling out, and nothing here still.
What's the deal?
Inquiring minds (and your customers!) want to know!

Hey Verizon!
What's the deal? Got any answers for us? Going on 4 weeks now and no sign of the update. Did you pull it?
And asking on their "VZWSupport" twitter feed is useless.. unless you are looking to get a new phone - it should be called "VZWSales". They consistantly ignore the question. Worse customer service ever!

I understand wanting the gingerbread operating system as soon as possible. The software update for the Thunderbolt is temporarily suspended because of a voicemail notification error. A fix is coming soon. We appreciate your patience as we work diligently to get this resolved.
Once the software update has been fixed it will be pushed out to your device. We will also update this link.
Thank you

Ah, typical Verizon support response... answer a question... not the right question, just some other question.
Strike one Joel, try again.

Don't know why I'm bothering, because I know Verizon "support" will just ignore it as they've been doing but...
Any info on the update? Is it dead? Is it coming? A little communication goes a long way... And don't tell me to follow your Twitter feed, those people are even more useless!

Hey Verizon people! Seriously! How about something about the update? You answer the simplest questions, especially ones that would involve the person spending money by upgrading to a new phone.
What's going on with GB??

It's pretty obvious that Verizon isn't paying any attention to this thread. Only one (erroneous) post by a VZW person so far. I would also like to know if my Incredible will ever see the Gingerbread update.

I am amazed that a reply was given to a Thunderbolt. I dont know if this is more hysterical or pathetic. Does Verizon care that lots of customers are reading these threads? Real professional.
Verizon reps are reading all the threads, you can see other easy questions answered. Grreat going Verizon, just ignore this question continuously and hope the customers eventually don't bother.

So I waited for an update and I did not get one. I looked for answers and found not one (at least official from Verizon or HTC). So I decided to use an upgrade and try out the iPhone 4, it's on cheaper than a 4S. Let's see how the iOS compares to Android and if they keep their operating system updated. So far so good, already have iOS 5 and it was released on Wednesday and I got the phone on Thursday. How long has GB been out, almost a year? That is sad indeed. Good bye Droid perhaps we will meet in the future.

Oh get this... I decided to email HTC support directly, to see what's the deal with GB, and this was their reply:
Currently the Gingerbread update(2.3) is being pushed out to all our Incredible customers. However this update is being pushed out randomly, so it can take up to 3 months for everyone with an Incredible to receive it. You can try and pull the update by going into Menu-Settings-About Phone-System Updates. If doing this says you are fully up to date, you will have to continue to wait for this update to be pushed to your device.
Oh really? Even though NOONE has received it in the last almost MONTH, and VERIZON HAS SAID IT WAS STOPPED! And they are waiting for HTC to fix the problems and resend the update.
Does anyone out there have a clue? I'm not asking for the answer to life itself, I'd be happy with a straight answer "Yes it's been suspended pending fixes"...
Wow.

Well, I followed up to HTC, telling them that VZW has said it has been stopped, and now they reply:
"John, I apologize that you were given incorrect information. It has come to the attention of Verizon Wireless and HTC that customers using the Incredible by HTC have experienced errors with the recent software update. As a result, the update has been temporarily suspended while the companies work together to resolve the issue. Verizon Wireless and HTC anticipate the update being available soon; customers will be notified directly on their devices when it is ready for download."
Any bets on what "soon" means? Christmas? New Years? Groundhog day?
