Gingerbread rollback to Froyo

I would like to know how to delete Gingerbread and revert back to Froyo or get another phone with Froyo installed.  I use to love my phone but now I can't stand it with the gingerbread ota upgrade.  By the way "sorry about that" is not an answer.  Thanks

Sorry but this has been discussed numerous amount of times and there is not a way to covert back to Froyo from GB without risk of Voiding your warranty and breaking TOS..   So I hate to say this but what you have is what you get.

Also it may be wise to search forum before posting because you may find a lot of your answers to questions may have been already asked and answered...

Well then can't they fix it instead?   We're talking Motorola and Verizon here.

I mean really this is ridiculous and there's little point it putting one's head in the sand concerning this issue which what it looks like is happening.

By the way, this is how you get answers that offend your sensibilities. Just because "sorry about that" isn't what you want to hear doesn't make it a non-answer.

The only way you can get a Droid without Gingerbread is by getting a different Droid, such as Droid2. I see that some of the newer Droid phones running 4G also are using Froyo as their OS. Once you donwload and install GB its yours with no recourse of backing out.

This is a violation of this forum, and cannot be discussed here.

If you want to do this, Google how and you will find an answer

Interesting comment because I just got off the phone with verizon technical support and the rep advised me to do exactly this roll back to an o s below 1.3
he went on to say that I could not do this over the air but could download the o s build onto a computer and flash the phone through a usb connection.

Not all CS follows the companies rules either, at one point I remember when CS was telling users ways to use the Wireless Tethering feature without paying and I guarantee that this was not Verizon's policies and on the same note would not get any mercy if Verizon identified you was using this feature illegally.

If it has been informed that you will breach your contract but someone gives you info to do it, they are not liable, you are...

And I guarantee if Verizon learns that the techs are informing customers of this I am sure they wont keep job long after..

That's because it's okay for him to discuss that option with you personally one on one.

However, for whatever reasons, the moderators have decided to not allow that discussion on the forum. I think that its not so much the topic as it is the method used to accomplish the goal in that discussion.

Without doing the forbidden word, you may be outta luck. Unless of course you have $600 laying around.

Berg801,

Thanks for your post. There is not a way to go back to the previous software version, but I can assist with issues you are having with Gingerbread. What issues are you having that cause you to want to go back? If these are issues related to freezing or going slow, keep in mind that some applications you had on Froyo may not be compatible with Gingerbread. I always suggest doing a factory reset before or after an update, especially a major update like going from Froyo to Gingerbread. This does resolve a lot of issues. Don't reload all of the same applications right away. Load one or two at a time then wait.

Hope this helps.

How can I get a list of my 116 apps so I know which ones I want to reinstall after a reset?

There is a free app in market called "App List backup" that can make a list of yor installed APPS onto your SD Card.  After you do a FR, you can the re-download that APP and choose the RESTORE option ... But you first must make sure you copy the "list file" from your SD Card if you plan to reformt your SD Card as part of a FR.

Log onto the android marketplace and select "my account."    All of the apps that you would have downloaded from that marketplace in the past would be on the list.   From there you can re-install them one by one.

If you do a Factory Reset, the FREE apps will NOT show up in your Market..  Been there.  You MUST create a LIST for yourself somehow if you want to know which FREE apps you installed before rebuilding your phone from scratch.  Your PAID apps will be there in Market after a F.R.

wrong - I don't buy ANY apps for my phone and all my free apps have shown up in the market after a factory reset. They won't show up immediately, but they do show up. When you download from the market, being that it is tied to your gmail account, it will keep a list of what you have downloaded and then let you install them, or in the case of my last factory reset, it installed them for me, which was a nice change

Interesting..  Not what happened on mine when I did a FR back in July after GB.  The only ones I automatically got were my PAID apps ...   very strange.  I guess YMMV

If a person logs into the web version of the Android Market, you can see a list of all the applications that you have ever downloaded to an android device.

I have seen after a factory reset that during the first time I opened market and went to my apps, I could see all my applications not just the paid applications listed there ready for download. I usually never allow the phone to redownload all the applications in one chunk anyway.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Actually Anne and Cody are both right. but with a disclaimer

I have done two factory resets on my Droid X, and I have gotten both results. The first time I did a factory reset, I logged into the Market during the time the phone was setting up. All applications I downloaded were there.

The second Factory Reset that I did, I did not log into the market until the next morning. Nothing but paid apps where located there.

So

in MY EXPERIENCE, if you log into the market right away, the free apps will be there to install, otherwise if you wait some time, you will only see the paid apps.

just saying that I have seen it happen both ways. :smileyvery-happy:
