I'm told two thing one is its am silent download which means it will just download whether you want it or not but that's just hear say.....two that there an option that's say update now or later, then there is a 3rd but not allowed to mention on this forum.so we will just have to wait and see then....

Unless they change the way updates are pushed to the device, the update will not just install on the device without any interactions from you, it usually prompts that a update is available and you have option to install later or activate installation at that time.

Do to the number of issues updates can cause they are not forced onto the users device as users believe...

I was told May 10th, but all indications seems to be leading to the 13th.. Unfortunately I have seen that the final build is coming with more Bloatware.

There are currently only 3 devices that have Gingerbread.  So we will get it when we get it.  Some phones are still waiting on 2.2.

An update? May 13th?

Yeah, and bin Laden is hiding in a cave in Afganistan.  How reliable did that rumor turn out?

No one has received any official information on when the update will be released to the Droid X but there is some very knowledgeable forums that sometimes gets the heads up on information like this even before it ever gets reported officially, when 2.2. and 2.2.1 was rumored to hit on a curtain date, the update actually arrived when it was reported..  This doesn't happen all the time but under some situation the forums have been on the money, so who knows when it will hit.

Normal updates appear to peek there heads on Fridays or a weekend date so the 05-13-11 sounds like a possibility....  We will just have to wait and see..

Verizon usually doesnt acknowledge a update even is present, I was told that Official build of 2.2 didnt exist even when it had been installed on a large amount of devices already.  Hopefully the final build follows the codes used in the latest leak because it seemed to be the most stable build so far..

guess it depends on who you talked to and when you talked to them.

the cs rep was more knowledgeable than some of what's put out here.

makes you wonder about those of us who were lucky enough to get an OTA update a few weeks back...from what I understand only a select few of us got this as it was some sort of 'test' by Motorola.

I'm running the following, which was an OTA

Android version 2.3.3

system version of 4.5.588.MB810.Verizon.en.US

I would assume that if they are coming out with a final build it will upgrade this to the most current, but I would hate to think I'm gonna be out of luck. Phone runs fine for the most part, but it would be nice to have the final version and have any kinks worked out from the OTA I got a few weeks back
