is anyone having issue with their gmail app on your droid x? i just started having problems with it tonight. ill open gmail and it starts to load and then force closes. I went into my settings and cleared my data from gmail and gmail storage. i did a factory reset, both with no success in solving the problem. ive bumped down the number of days it syncs with to 1. i cant receive emails unless i manually refresh and thats if it doesnt force close on me.

I'm having the same problem. Just bought the phone -- Droid -- yesterday. The very helpful clerk at the store set it up and all was well until this morning. Did a reset, reestablished the link with Gmail, etc., and I still get a message that says, "The program com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
Now at least 2 of us need help!!
Thanks for any and all assistance.

I ended up calling tech support. I was told that the operating system was corrupted -- Gmail is supposed to work properly -- and that I should return the phone for a replacement.

I love the techs answers they give people.... CORRUPTED OS, , I had the same issue and how I resolved it was by simply opening the application and allowed it to sync all the emails to the device before I attempted to open any mail. I always noticed this happened any time I had not opened the email client for a little amount of time, it seems that the emails have to update the sync for the email account. I also believe this is because I disable the auto sync feature so it only updates when I open the app. After I do this my issue goes away..

My Droid X starting having the same Gmail problem tonight. I read in another forum that uninstalling your task killers would solve the problem. But it did not work for me. Verizon and Motorola need to jump on this and get it fixed fast or a heck of a lot of phones are going back to Verizon. Lets go Verizon.

I just started getting this last night too. I don't get the force close, it just closes on its own. The app is still running and I get notifications and can read emails off the notification but can not access my inbox. I am going to try and get over to a store today and see what they say but it almost seems to be a VZW or google issue if it started showing up recently

Now I am having the same problem. They said I will have to do a hard reset but I really didn't want to have to go through all that. I hope the update comes out before my 30 days otherwise I will have to call back to do that and possibly need to get a replacement phone.
