Gmail won't automatically sync

Hi everyone.

Yesterday, upon arriving back at my apartment from class, I noticed that my phone was no longer automatically syncing. I've tried clearing the data for the Gmail program. I've restarted the phone. I've taken the battery out and put it back in.

If I go into Accounts & Sync in Settings, it says that Auto-sync is on, and that for Twitter, Facebook, and Gmail, "Sync is On." Although, when I go into my gmail account on that same page, It says that Gmail was synced a half an hour ago, or longer. Right now, the sync icon is spinning next to it.

If I uncheck "Sync Gmail" under Data & Synchronization for my Gmail account, then check it again, the wheel pops back up, and for a second, it stays still, then starts spinning again.

I'm not in bad service, and this is the first time this has happened.

Now, my internal storage is fine, as is my SD card storage.

So what's going on, and how can I fix this?

Thanks!

Me and a coworker are having the same issue. We've both been working fine for almost a year, now all of a sudden gmail has stopped syncing. I think it's more likey a system problem rather than an individual problem.

You can try going into the phone settings then go to applications then manage applications. You can then press the phone Menu button and select the filters option. Change it to display all. Then, you can see gmail and gmail storage in the manage list. Try going to them and clearing their data or cache. This should clear the temporary data from the gmail app allowing it to get a fresh clean sync. If this options does not work properly, you can erase the Gmail account and reset the account back up and set up your Auto Sync options.

As a follow-up, I went to the nearest Verizon dealer (although not an official store) and eventually just did a factory reset. I really don't think there's any solution to this problem other than that.

Nevermind. That did not make it work. Does this mean that it is, indeed, a problem with Verizon, and not with the phone?

Mine has been working sporadically... so yes, I think it's a Verizon (or Gmail) problem. I'm just guessing though...
