I have 189 contacts on my phone, 173 of them sync with back up assistant and 16 with Google. if I log into gmail on my computer, I can only see those 16 contacts. How do I make my contacts Google contacts. I've tried syncing through accounts and only those 16 contacts sync. I've changed the option for where new contacts are stored but how do I change the ones that are already in there. I really don't want to have to re-enter all of my contacts.

Hello community members,
I appreciate all the input on this topic. This has been brought to our attention in a variety of ways. Just to provide an official answer, the Android operating system does not allow any one contact to be merge and/or saved on multiple backup platforms at one time. If you add a new contact, it will only be saved under one display group based on the contact type chosen.
For example, the Motorola Droid 2 has the option to save a new contact as Gmail account, Phone Contacts, or Favorites. If you have a third party app, like Facebook, then it would be an option as well. In the event that you want to change the location as to where the contact is saved, the process is to delete the contact, select the display group by selecting the menu button, select the display group of your choice, then re-add the contact to the phone.
Both myself and fellow co-workers have communicated this in a Product issue form to add as an enhancement. As with most large companies, there is a process that needs to be completed to have such enhancements added.
Thank you for your understanding,

I have notice a pattern, all users that report issues with Google appears to also use Backup Assistance, I think that some how they are interferring with eachother.. I perfer gMail and havent had aby issues to date but I also do not use BA.... You might want to add the missing contacts from BA and then export data to csv file and then disable it and then import them into gMails account and see how that works for you..

You know I could even settle for this if the contacts I put on both Google and Backup Assistant would show up in the Dialer. I have some that show up in Contact Search but not Dialer. Where are they?
