Gorilla Glass and its glass jaw

I have had my DROID X for about six months and have dropped it a couple times without a problem.  Yesterday, when removing it from its belt clip, it slipped out of my hand and fell less than three feet to a concrete floor.  The screen shattered.  Not just cracked - it shattered.  Sharp glass shards everywhere!  Everyone take note - maybe gorilla glass will not scratch, but it is not tempered.  When it breaks it creates a real safety hazard and a mess.

Okay - I dropped it  - my fault.  I will definitely buy an Otterbox for my replacement phone; lesson learned.  But every DROID X owner should be made aware that if the screen breaks, it may not just break harmlessly, and could pose an injury risk.

If you think glass from a broken phone is dangerous, you should never use a glass for drinking.....

Seriously, why would you think that the Droid X would have tempered glass?  Tempered glass shatters at much lower impacts and pounds per square inch.

I believe the product you mean is safety glass which has a plastic laminate.

Um it does have gorilla glass on your link that you provide in the search type in droid x, the droidx use to be the featured phone but more they have new featured phones but the x does have it.

Yes, the X most certainly does have gorilla glass. I have looked it up and seen it listed as having it on Corning's own site.

And while it's really tough, it ain't titanium.

Ahh... Gorilla Glass does not mean it unbreakable, just means its tough... Even King Kong had his breaking point

They use gorilla glass because it's hard to scratch.  But it can be broken.  Even a diamond (the hardest material on the planet) is imposible to scratch.  It scratches everything else.  But it can be broken.  Just to prove it to youself, take your wifes or girlfriends diamond ring and hit it with a hammer!!!!!

Howdi all i agree with what u guys said it may be scrach proof but break resistant na. Hey Geri if i can get a way from My Wii long enough i'll  get a Pm msg to ya sir that thing can be addictive been playin tennis an its workin my Bo Diddley off but its all good though. But i think with any phone u just have to as carefull as can but hech we all make mistakes an sometimes its not even our fault.
