HTC Incredible hookup to Wireless Network Extender

I just bought a Verizon Wireless Network Extender.  Everything is lit up blue on the extender, but I can't hook my phone yup to it via *28, it alwsy says failed to update.  Does anyone have a work around for this before i take the unit back for a refund/

When using the Network Extender, once you have hooked the phone up to it you do not have to dial the *228. You only do the *228 to update your roaming capabilities. If you are unable to update your Incredible by doing *228, you will need to contact our Tech Support team. The number is 1-800-922-0204, or *611 from a Verizon Wireless mobile device. Hope this helps!
