I really hope Verizon get's the HTC Passion/Dragon or whatever they are calling it these days soon. I can't take my AT&T and I-Phone 3GS any longer. I switched 6-7months ago and have regretted it. But if Verizon thinks I'm going to pop back over because of the Motorola Droid, they are highly mistaken.
I love the HTC Droid Eris, but it definitely lacks in how power hungry I am with my devices. Which is why the HTC Passion/Dragon is perfect. Anyone have any info if this is coming? If Verizon takes too long, I will deal with my poorer coverage and just order a GSM version of it when it comes out. But I would really like to switch back. I am sick of Verizon, still having so much **bleep** control over everything. Just pump out great devices and keep your network awesome and let customers do they're thing. I'm sick of Verizon making discussions for me and everyone else. Motorola Droid is not the answer all device.
We need the Droid Eris' Big brother. Verizon are you listening????
Snapdragon 1Ghz, 3.7"+ Screen, Android with Sense UI. 5+mp Camera. Touch screen only.
Anyone have any info please respond below. I can't be the only one wanting this puppy.

I have two useful articles.
One article says "Rumors have it that the new HTC Passion will be available on Verizon before the year’s end, which means there’s another smartphone option on Verizon, other than Motorola Droid or the new Blackberry Storm 2."
The other article which was posted on Dec 7th 2009 says "DigiTimes' sources also claim that HTC will announce a QWERTY-toting Android device, possibly named Espresso, at the huge Mobile World Congress event in February."

I for one am giving up on the idea of Verizon getting the Passion/Dragon/Nexus One/Bravo/Whateverthecraptheycallit. I'm hearing that the Nexus One is actually the finished product of what the Passion/Dragon was supposed to be, but now we're finding out that phone is headed to T-Mo because Verizon refused it just like they refused the iPhone way back in the day. Again, it's all hearsay about WHY it was refused by Verizon but I think it's pretty safe to assume we won't be getting this phone anytime soon.
Verizon, let me make this very clear so you know what we want. We want a phone that resembles the HTC HD2 (4.3" AMOLED capacitive touchscreen) running the latest version of Android with a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor for a subsidized price of no more than $275. If you can do that, I gaurantee you'll have AT&T iPhone fanatics jumping ship and climbing over each other to get there hands on it. And you won't even have to fight Apple over where they plan on setting up their iPhone camp in the next year anymore since they'll already have something else better than that glossy propriatary piece of [edit]. Savvy?
Now, let's make it happen.

Let me make this very clear: You don't speak for the whole Verizon Wireless community when posting. You can only speak for yourself.
Some people will like the HD2, others wont. That is all.

supitsmike,
You can't tell someone that they cannot speak for the whole verizon community. Cause now your saying he can't. When maybe he can? He wants to know, I want to know. Maybe others? Maybe everyone? You should take some of your own advice, because you can't speak for the whole community and say we are not interested in this device.
I just want to know YES or NO. I can be slightly patient. Maybe... April at the longest. If the phone is out by then. But just let me know now because by then I'll be buying a new Android device, but it won't be for Verizon. I'll just stay with AT&T and buy a overseas Android device.
Example: Yes, we are getting the device around February or March. Etc
Example: No, we decided to pass on the device and are not caring it or going to any time soon.
I just want Verizon to pump out some phones that I will actually use/want. Just want and Android with far superior hardware.
I can almost bet if the Passion/Passion Equivalent was released on Verizon. It would do 2-3x the sales of current models they've pushed out like the Omnia 2 and the Storm 2. I can seriously almost bet the sales of this device would easily be double of what both of those phones are selling right now. But here we are with no device, and they have two devices sitting on the shelf's barely moving.
Seems crazy to me.

I can tell him he can't speak for the whole community, because he said "What we want." 'We' is a drastically broad statement, and unless he's representing the three people thus far that have the desire to know if they're getting it -- then he's cannot speak for the community as a whole. He doesn't have that ability.
Mind you, the percentage of customers that very has that cruise and post on these forums is incredibly small. "We" suggest that he knows what we want. He knows what he wants.
Also for the underlined: I don't recall saying people won't be interested. In fact what I said was that some will like it, others won't.
Please when trying to post against what I'm saying that you read and comprehend everything as opposed to the thin layer of what you see.

So... Mike.
Thanks for contributing nothing to the thread once again. If you have no info or don't know anything about it? Why post. I am asking Verizon, and others if they have any information. He simply concluded that he would also like to know, because he is part of the community that wants it. These forums are small but are watched and monitored by Verizon also.
Verizon, Lets us know ASAP.

I've probably contributed more for the sake of common sense then you think.
And if he is asking that he wants to know, he should clarify. Saying "We" means he's speaking for all of us. He just can't do that.
And, if you cruised these forums enough to know -- Verizon will never confirm or deny that they will be receiving a phone prior to it's release (Unless it's listed on their website or something).
Then again it could at last minute. Who knows. However simply dodging what I said made me laugh. Thanks!

"We" in his statement probably meant me and him. Cause "WE" would like to know.
HD2 has nothing to do with the Passion/Dragon. The passion/dragon name will be used according to HTC Device roll out map for 2010.
We both just want to know when the dang phone is coming out or not.

It's a rumor. A rumor, if anything, it'll go to the T-Mobile network.
And, in light of this phone being a rumor on who it will go to, I still suggest doing research nevetheless before posting. Otherwise you wouldn't have had the urge to post knowing that a VzW employee will never confirm any rumors. Ever. That argument alone negates any post you made as it's completely useless under that knowledge. Please, don't try. It's not going to work here. We know the rules here, and that's the reason why we tell you.
Sorry, kid.
@Bkfist Completely agree.

Looks like Nexus One will be GSM. It has been FCC approved. Too bad early adopters (by a couple of months) on the Verizon network got stuck with the less powerful Droid Eris and Motorola Droid

I'm going to ignore everything you just said as its completely off topic. I prove you wrong, get flamed. What I will correct you on is your insufferable and persistant choice to ignore that Verizon won't comment on it.
I never said anything about the lack of spelling or grammar that you used but rather the way you put it. Now, if the context of something that you wrote you qualify for as a grammar problem, go right ahead. Go ahead and write whatever you want, I don't care. It's your opinion, your thoughts, you're entitled to them. What you're not entitled to, however, is to speak on everyone elses behalf (Hence the 'we' problem)
At the end of the day, your response is completely left field.

Here's my thinking on Passion/Dragon. I believe that HTC and Verizon will release a version of the Dragon/Passion sometime in January. I think maybe late January going into early February. They have the 2nd BOGO deal going on now til Dec. 24. If they were to release a 3rd android device, I would say it would be around starting January 26 maybe.
I could be wrong. In the next couple of weeks after our eligible for a new phone, I'm planning to get the eris. I love the sense IU and interesting in seeing what the 2.0 upgrade will do. I do like the droid but the physical keyboad and design of the droid annoy me. I will go with the eris. If something new does come up in January (fingers crossed), I will be exchanging for it.

Just fyi, after the OTA update, my Eris is running VERY smoothly. It's noticeable fast, both in general navigation and in loading apps, and it has much better battery life, presumably because the CPU actually sleeps like it's supposed to. Before the update, I'd barely get a day out of the battery, and the awake time was averaging around 65%. Now the average awake time is more like 15-20% for my amount of usage, and I easily end the day with 30-40% or more of battery left, unless I really use it heavily for long calls and stuff. Still, I'm no longer scared about using it too much during the day and having it die on me.
Now I'm definitely happy I didn't get the Moto Droid. Like you, I don't like the Droid's physical design, and I would rather have Sense than Android 2.0. And the Eris will be getting 2.0 in a few months anyway, it's not much of an issue. Sure, the faster processor and larger screen would be nice, but the Eris is more than adequate for my needs right now. I just got it with a 1-year contract (was only $170 for 1-year, still cheaper than the Hero at $180 for 2-year on Sprint, mwahahaha), so I can upgrade to whatever big, bad new HTC Sense droid phone is available next November.
Speaking of the Sprint Hero, a couple guys where I work have those as work-provided phones, and they generally like them, but one complained about the screen not sleeping when he's talking on it, and he ends up pushing buttons and stuff with his face while on calls, sometimes hanging up the call and whatnot. You've got to give Verizon credit for tweaking the design by adding on a proximity sensor, because I have no such issues with my Eris. I just wish they hadn't used such a small battery It'd be nice if you could get at least two days out of a battery charge on one of these fancy phones.

Somebody has to know something. This is driving me crazy. I don't want the Droid. I'd get the Eris, but I really don't want to downsize to 3.2" and HVGA. Otherwise, it would be a fantastic pick up. I'm really tired of waiting, but if I compromise with getting the Eris on contract only to find out what I really want is released within a month or two, I'll be royally ticked off. Therefore, I'm hunting to pick up an Eris contract free, figuring I can flip it to recover some of my money within a month or two. The HTC Incredible or whatever it might be called is going to be much more expensive. I'd rather save my NE2 and subsidy for that phone. I participated in the Omnia II thread early on and that wait dragged on for 4 months. Absolute agony.

People, it doesn't matter what phone you get or when you get it because a newer, "better" model will undoubtedly be released before your next upgrade date. So just get the phone you want when you want it because let's face it, it'll never be the last phone you want to buy. If it's really that big a deal to you, you can always purchase at full retail.
Mike, you're very knowledgeable and contribute a lot to the forums, but give it a rest already. You're off topic, and besides that, no one asked you to defend our rights to speak for ourselves.

http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/03/huge-stash-of-htc-android-codenames-found-within-2-1-rom/
Wow...makes you wonder if some of these code names are choices being thrown around for the same device, or if HTC is really going to be coming out with THIS many different android 2.1 devices soon! Also wondering about that "PassionC" name....C as in CDMA so that it can come to Verizon? Just wishful thinking outloud....
Hmmm....loving my Droid, but all these rumors about snapdragons and AMOLED screens are making me get ancy about my Jan 15th deadline to exchange my Droid... LOL

That thread happened long before you posted. No need for the latter part.
And besides, speaking for everyone is just pretentious. I agree with the underlined however.

Verizon, Lets us know ASAP.
Good luck with getting any information about ANY new, rumored or even "confirmed" phone out of VzW before a few days of when it will be released. Go over to the PDA & Smartphone section and check out the "closed" 8000+ post thread for the Omnia II (if you can find it). That thread was opened in June and with all the begging and pleading that was done, no one at VzW would give out any information on it's release or even that it existed. Even though Samsung had a press release in June saying it would be a Verizon Exclusive phone.
