Headphone jack sound issues

Anyone else having issues with this.  I connect the phone to my car aux for some pandora or lastfm, and half the time it works fine and the other half, the sound is staticy or sounds very distant, if I can hear it at all.  Then when this happens, my droid will enter voice commands and i've had it dial someone before.

I use the same cord with my psp and works fine.  Wonder if common issue with the X or if I should get it replaced

Yes you do have 30 days to try out the phone.So if anything is wrong with it you can exchange it for another new phone or different new phone

Yes I have the same annoying problem with several stereo plug/cable assemblies

1. Stereo cord to headset

2. Ipod earbuds

3. Brand new cord to amplifier

All it takes is looking at the Droid the wrong way and Voice Command activates. Sometimes, instead of Voice Command, it just automatically calls the my most recent contact. Then I get a call from the last contact wondering why I just tried calling them 10 or 12 times and just hanging up. Makes me look real {word filter avoidance}
.  Maybe it should be renamed a Not-So-Smart Phone. I called Verizon tech support who acknowledged the problem and said the fix is to use a high-end headset.  The Droid is programmed to work with a headset push-to-call switch that activates the Voice Command and the stereo plug is somehow replicating this command.

I bought a brand new stereo cord with gold-plated plugs - guess that's high-end - and still have the same problem.

My fear is that the Droid will call someone before I can end the call and instigate an embarrassing incident.

I have now entered a new Contact named {word filter avoidance}
Droid and with the number of 000-0000. I call this number anytime I am about to stick a plug into the jack. Then, when I hear "Please enter the number you wish to call" I scream{word filter avoidance}
Droid!  While the Dumb **bleep** is trying to connect, I have time to fish the Droid out of my pocket and manually end the call.

The issue is caused by the head phone plug. The jack is made for TRS (to, ring and sleeve) connectors the have the speaker out plus a mic all wired to one plug. When you plug in a standard set or head phones, high end or cheap, they only have a tip and ring connection for the speaker out. If the jack is not fully seated in the jack, the speaker associated with ring is turned into a mic because the ring is contacting the sleeve connector and the noise triggers the voice commands. I've had this problem with my X, my Dare and my Chocolate Touch. Reseating the plug will fix the issue for that instance.

I have this problem, and I'm using mic'd headphones, so I don't think that's the issue.
