I got my DROID Charge about a month ago. I was playing around with the settings on my home screen, and I have somehow accidentally removed "Messaging" from the bar along the bottom of the home interface. I cannot find any information how how to add/remove apps from this bar. Please help!

Thats easy one, just open start menu and press and hold the icon and drag it to the slot you want to add it.

Pajamamoose,
Here is where to find messaging. Go to the home screen. In the same area from which the messaging icon disappeared hold your finger on the screen for a few seconds. In the screen that comes up pres shortcuts. On the next screen press Applications. Go down the list to Messaging. Press Messaging and it should be placed either in it's original place where you started or at least on your home screen and I suppose if it's on your home screen you can drag it to where it should be.

Thank you to the community for all your replies.
Its very inconvenient to lose a main application like messaging. We can resolve this very quickly so you can use the quickest way to text message with that widget. On the Samsung Charge from the home screen tap applications then tap menu the bottom left icon on the device. Then press and hold the application that you would like in the bottom tray and drag and drop the application.
Thank you
