when you setup the account in the case like my cox, pop3 account, when you enter the pop/smtp server addresses, that's where you can select authenticate & ssl/secure for each of the server addresses.

Bearone21.  Thanks for reply.  I must be dense.

On pop server setup, I have four choices:

1. Use Secure connection (box to be checked or unchecked)

2. "Use secure Password (TLS); choices are  "Never, Auto and Always"

3. "Authentication"; choices are "Authenticated POP and Password"

4. Verify Certificate (box to be checked or unchecked

On smtp server setup, I have the same four entries, but the "Authentication" item gives me a choice of "None, Auto, and MD5"

No mention of SSL.

I do appreciate your further help, bearone.

Both send and receive work.  Last question, I have both cox (vegas) and roadrunner (wisconsin) emails on the phone.  is it true that I can't send from either one if I'm outside of the respective network (e.g., can't send from my cox e-mail when I'm in wisconsin or from rr in Wisconsin)?   I thought sure that wasn't the case on the phone this one is replacing, but Roadrunner support said it is true.
