I accidently moved my app tray/call/contacts section that usually pops up on the bottom over to the side and have no idea how to change it back. Can anyone help?

Are you using a home screen replacement app from the market? I wasn't aware that you could move those icons on the Droid X. It almost sounds like a glitch - the homescreen attempted to go into landscape mode even though the DX isn't supposed to?
Have you tried powering off your phone or doing a battery pull?

Yes, you can move those icons around. and the Droid X does go into landscape mode both ways. You can turn your Droid X to landscape either way and it will change.
I would suggest that you get LauncherPro from the Market. It comes in two versions, a free one which does not allow you to change the size of your icon, and one that costs money, which does allow you to change the size of your icon. This is a much better launcher than the stock launcher and allows you to do more things with the Droid X, such as changing the fixed icons on the bottom. Give it a try. If you don't like it, you can always remove it.

I know that the Droid X has an accelerometer and can go into landscape mode, I was not aware that the (stock) home screens would go into landscape mode. Is there a way to enable it? Mine DX has never left portrait on the homescreen and I've looked for a settings option.

Settings>display>Auto-rotate screen. If it's checked, it should go into landscape. If not, it will not go into landscape.

By George, I am WRONG. With the stock homescreens you CAN NOT go into landscape mode. I uninstalled my LauncherPro just to see if I could go into landscape with the stock screens and found out that I could not. However, with LauncherPro (which I am going to re-install) you can. Sorry that I gave some false information, my bad.

No one can be right ALL the time . I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something, it would be nice to have the home screens go into landscape mode without having to install a home screen replacement. (My DX did it once while it was glicthing).
When everything else on the phone displays in either orientation, it seems odd that they locked the homescreens to portrait mode.

Try LauncherPro. It is probably one of the best apps in the market. It is so much better than the stock home screens. I like the fact that I can go into landscape mode on the home screen, moving between the screens is a lot easier, and several other things. I tried ADW, but didn't care for it (Sorry, Wildman).

It must have been a glitch because after I turned it off and back on again it was back to normal. Thanks!

If you are using ADW Launcher you can lock the desktop to not have this accidently happen. Click left menu button while on home page and select lock desktop.
