Homepage apps/widgets disappearing on memory clear

I have an annoying issue with my Samsung Droid Charge.  I get my home pages set up the way I want them then, when memory is cleared, either by going to the task manager and clearing memory there, restarting the phone, or another app that clears memory before it starts, I am losing several of my apps and widgets from my homepages.

Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so, were you able to resolve it?  I have talked with @VZWSupport on twitter and their recommendation is a hard reset.  That is a last resort for me as I don't want to have to recover all of my data, contacts, and re-purchase and re-install all of my apps.

If anyone else has had this issue and has resolved it please let me knwo what you did to resolve it.  If you did a hard reset and that did resolve the issue please let me know that as well.

Dear oldputter,

I don't have this problem, so cannot offer a direct fix.

However, I suggest you consider downloading and using one of the backup apps from the Market before you do a hard reset.  Again, I don't use one so can't recommend, but several describe the ability to back up contacts, settings, apps, etc.  The Verizon Backup Assistant is pretty useless.

Also, check out the threads on this forum that discuss backup apps.  They may give you guidance on which to use, if you choose.
