How do I delete apps and the icons?

I want to clean up my screen.  For example, delete OfficeSuitePro trial version and QuickOffice.  I want to stick with DocumentsToGo, as I do a lot of editing of xls spreadsheets.

Tap on "market". Tap on the menu key. Tap on "downloads." Go to each download you want to delete and tap on the item and then on 'uninstall." You have to do this individually for each apps you want to delete. Of course you know that all the apps pre-installed on the phone can not be uninstalled. However, the icons on the screen can be taken off. Tap and hold finger on the icon until it turns green than pull it to the trash can at the bottom of the screen and when the icon turns red, release your finger.

Deleting the icons for preinstalled apps does not work.  For example: following your procedure with the Blockbuster app, the icon turns red when dragged to the garbage bin, but returning to the menu, the icon is in its original place.

There are some apps that cannot be deleted.  Blockbuster is one of those apps.

True, pre-installed apps can not be deleted, however, the icon can be taken off the screen. Sometimes, you have to play with them but eventually they get deleted. I find if you hold the icon until it turns green and pull it to the trash can and give it a quick little twist to the left or right of the trash can as it turns red, it will disappear. It can get frustrating to delete the pre-installed apps, icons I know, but with perseverance, I got rid of those I did not want.

That sounds like a bug as I cannot repeat what you have described. I am using Launcher Pro but I am not sure if that matters. Are you using Blur? I have spent the last half hour trying to Delete the Blockbuster Icon. Maybe I am not "Twisting" right?  You would think there would be an easier way to clean up the App drawer. Or when I creat a folder, that folder should show up in the App Drawer with the appropriate apps in it!

If you are trying to delete an icon from the apps drawer...forget it, you can't. I am referring ONLY to the apps icons located on one of the screens. The only icons in the apps drawer you can delete are those not pre-installed, and the only way you can delete those is by deleting the program itself. Pre-installed apps, such as Blockbuster, can not be deleted, but their icon can be removed from the screen (not the apps drawer).

So then Quickoffice can not be deleted ever just because it was pre-installed? That is very inconvenient.

To delete an app or icon from any screen, just press down and hold down on the icon. It will vibrate, then while still holding down, drag it to the bottom of the screen where there will be a trash can. It will remain green until you are over the trash can and then it will turn red. Let go and it will be gone. It's just like removing a shortcut from your computer. You can clean up all of your screens and later find the app in the app files if you want it back. Or just to open it.

Those "pre-installed" apps are otherwise known as Bloatware, Junkware and Crapware.  Computer versions of that intrusive, unwanted, unneccessary junk can at least be uninstalled.  Verizon, on the other hand, ties our hands so that it cannot be uninstalled/deleted without voiding our warrantees.

Launcher Pro is an interly different story. Since I do not have it, I can not talk about it. I'm talking about icons located on any of the screens themself, and not about the icons located in the apps drawer. Let's make this simple about pre-installed apps (programs) and ONLY about pre-installed apps.

You have the apps itself. They can NOT be deleted. It stinks, I know, but that's the nature of the beast. Several others have talked about this very issue.

Next you have the icon of the apps in the APPS DRAWER. These icons can NOT be deleted. Again, I'm only talking about the icons for the pre-installed apps. In fact, no icon can be deleted from the drawer. If you want to delete a MARKET apps icon, you must delete the program itself.

Finally, you have the icon of the pre-installed apps located on any of the seven screens, for example, the browser icon. These icons CAN be deleted by tapping and holding your finger on the apps until it shows green. A trash can will appear in the bottom center of the screen. With your finger still on the apps, drag it to the trash can. When it turns red, release your finger and it should be gone. You can also delete a market apps the same way and still keep the apps itself.

Under Launcher Pros setting menu there is a option to hide the unused apps from the launcher and they will not show up when you scroll launcher.  Left menu button on home screen > Settings > And top menu ....  Im not using it now to give exact directory but the menu  is a primary option.
