How do I uninstall unwanted apps

I would like to uninstall twitter, flickr, peep, Slacker Radio, Amazon MP3. How do I do this? Or, if I can not uninstall them, how can I change the defaults so they stop turning on and running when I don't ever use them? They are just using battery power. And, with the HTC Incredible the batter power lasts barely a whole day. I feel I don't have any options.
If anybody out there can help, I would be very happy.

I have provided information below on how to stop applications from running on your phone: You can get additional information from your User Guide @ http://cache.vzw.com/multimedia/mim/htc_incredible/incredible.pdf.
Clearing application cache and data
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings.
Scroll down the screen, and then tap Applications > Manage applications.
On the Manage applications screen, tap the application whose cache and/or data you want to delete.
Press MENU to bring up sort and filter options.
In the Application info screen, tap Clear data and/or Clear cache.
Uninstalling third-party applications
You cannot uninstall applications that are preinstalled on the phone.
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings.
Scroll down the screen, and then tap Applications > Manage applications.
Press MENU, and then tap Filter > Downloaded.
On the Manage applications screen, tap the application you want to uninstall.
On the Application info screen, tap Uninstall.
Freeing up more phone memory or storage card space
If your phone is running low on memory, try the following:
In your web browser, clear all temporary Internet files and history information. See the Internet chapter for more information.
Uninstall downloaded programs from Android Market you no longer use. See “Finding and Installing Apps from Android Market “ in the More apps chapter for details.
Thank You

I'm in the same boat. The battery is wearing down running apps I never use. The Stocks app invades one whole screen that I'd like to use for other shortcuts, but I can't remove it. I'm not terrible encouraged by the fact that you posted this three months ago and no one has offered a solution.

If you are talking about the stocks app taking up one of your screens, that is totally customizable. Just long press the stocks widget and drag it down on the red remove button. You can then long press on the empty screen and add whatever else you like!
Hope this helps!

There is no way of getting them off unless you want to void your warranty, hack the OS, or flash a new ROM onto the device. I went out and got the Sedio 3500mAh battery which turns the phone into a brick that will survive a full day of even the most brutal use. They make one that's the orginal size at 1750mAh that adds 450mAh. Eventually I did flash a new ROM onto mine and the original battery did a LOT better.

Just hold your fingertip on the app icon. It should then get a green frame around it and still holding your finger on it drag it to the bottom of the screen.

Last time I was in VZ just for fun I asked if those apps are on there because they have a deal with VZ.
The response was "No."
The response is a lie. Most of the pre-loaded apps have deals with VZ. If an app is pre-loaded onto your phone you're more likely to use it...therefore paying for it's use. If they only get 1 out of every 10 people to buy the phone to purchase the subscription or the app or whatever that's quite a chunk of change considering how many people buy the phones.
I think it's ridiculous that you can't delete these apps. I NEVER use most of them.
Apps like Skype drive me nuts. You can't delete it and I'll NEVER use it eventhough it's ALWAYS running. That's just one of a couple that I never use and it's constantly taking battery and resources away from my phone. Actually, I bad mouth the apps because I CAN'T take them off my phone. I've never used them and they're garbage to me....because they're using space and energy from my phone and apps I want to use.
If the apps weren't pre-loaded but somehow (wink wink) made it to the top of the apps list maybe I would try it out and see if I liked them and then PAY for it.
VZ. PLEASE give us the opportunity to delete these unwanted Apps from our phones. Ridiculous. I am a long time VZ customer and find now outrageous reason to change, but stuff like this makes you realize how shotty the company is and how greedy they really are.
They're making money off them or they wouldn't be on the phone. It's like having OnStar on certain Chevys. You get it free for a while, but eventually you have to pay for it...and yes, Chevy gets their piece of the pie. A little different but a lot the same.
Okay. I feel better. My rant accomplished nothing and I'll still have to "Kill" Skype every time I have to access my App Killer just to drain more using task killer to kill an app I don't want.....SEE! It actually gets you twice.
