How many replacements

I am now on my 4th Droid... all with the same problem... screen will jump up and down when in a list about twice a day. I will then have to pull the battery, because the scren will no longer accept input.

I was wondering if there was some kind of lemon law... I know that this must be rare for this phone, and I am a heavy user, but I also know someone else that has had this problem once.

And before anyone says anything **bleep**, no I am not just trying to get a new phone. My company pays for all of this.. I just don't want them to have an unneeded expense.

Assuming you are going through warranty, you'll get a refurbished Droid every time usually. Have you by chance tried to ask if you could get a different refurbished phone?

I have been fine getting the replacements, but I am starting to get a little upset. This last time I asked if there was any way I could get another one instead and they told me they would only replace it with a refurbished unit.

This is the same reason I left Sprint. They gave me 6 Samsung Instinct replacements. My wife also had 6 replacements, and told me they would only let me use my upgrade.

I want to wait and use my upgrade for when an LTE phone comes out. Do you know how to get taken care of? That is all I asked for. I DONT want any tricks or anything, just to be treated right.

Every U.S. cell provider is like that & have the same policy...when you go through warranty you'll always get a refurbished device. It's not only Sprint. It is Verizon, Metro, T-mobile, AT&T...etc that all do it. It is cheaper for companies to do it. The only thing I can suggest is keep on trying and you might just come across a rep that is more sympathetic. You didn't say pacificly in your last phone if you asked for a different model refurbished phone. Don't ask for a brand new phone because that will not happen.  There is a difference between asking for a different model refurbished phone and brand new phone.

I have filed a BBB complaint if the BBB is flooded with complaints they will act quicker and with more force please file a complaint. Verizon has agreed my 3rd replacement needs replacement but says there is no problem with the droid!!!!!

Sorry didn't answer your question. I just asked if I could have a different model. I didn't specify a refurb or not. I guess if it happens again I can try that. I would hate to go to the bbb. I did that with Sprint, and I even got out of my contract because I had a letter sent from a lawyer.

A few years ago Sprint dropped some of their customers for calling customer care too many times. It was rediculous. That seemed to work to get out of a contract

If you keep having the same problem over and over again, I would wonder if it might actually be an application you keep downloading each switch. That would be my guess.

Cobjones don't you realize that we that are having the problem the cause?!?!?!?!?.....lol I don't know where all these verizon kool-aid drinkers are coming from but I feel you.

I am on my 3rd and that one is bad too!!!

Yet according to some it must be us as they have had no problem!!!

Getting really tired of verizon and I have filed a BBB complaint and it has got some responce. I haven't got a firm answer as of yet.

I find it strange to find that people are having trouble with this phone.  I have used mine quite a bit (purchased in Nov 2009) with little problem.  I have noticed that it doesn't like liquid getting on the screen (ie sweat or condensation from a drink).  I dropped my Droid in a greasy Mexican food dish.  I was submerged about a third of the way up from the bottom.  I pulled the battery dried it up with alcohol pads and it works great to this day.  Mine seems to be indestructible.  I've even dropped it off of an 8 foot ladder.  Didn't even blink.  My Droid rocks!  Sorry to hear about all your issues.

I agree that the Droid is tough ~ it does have issues though. I reported several issues I have been having with mine since week 5 (funny how it started having issues just after the 30 day return policy offered by Verizon to change to another phone) well Verizon would only offer to send me a "certified like new" replacement of the same phone. Now I have had to report issues on the replacement for some of the same issues & a few more I have noticed. I would like to change to a total touch phone because one of the issues I am having is with the slide freezing my phone up if it gets bumped open.  We will just have to wait & see what Verizon will do.

Me and my wife both got the Droid Eris in January, she still has her original device, its given her little issues. I on the other hand, went through 6 devices in 2 months...every one had a different issue, mostly software. My first device had to be replaced within 12hours of purchase and activation. After much sweet talk, I got a rep to send me the Moto Droid. And by the way, when they send me that Droid, they didn't include a charger...so they overnighted me the (wrong) charger. I got so frustrated that I went out and bought one, and argued with a supervisor for an hour before I got him to credit my account for the cost of the correct charger. That was about 3 months ago, and since then, I've burned through 8 Moto Droids. The last one they sent, was a brand new device. Im not sure if I got it by accident or what, but thus far the last one has worked for over a month. I manually updated to 2.2 after I was mildly sure it wasn't another DOA.

I love my Droid, and before I bought the Eris, I loved Verizon's customer service. When it comes down to it, I did get a free Moto Droid..which is pretty sweet. However Im not real sure it was worth all the frustration. =/

I agree that Sprint is not a very good provider. They may sure have cheaper plans, but I won't ever go back

I don't drink any koolaid...I will say this... they atleast handle this slighty better than sprint... sprint told me I wasn't going to get a replacement at one point...

I know 4 other people with a Droid... all but one have replaced their original. The other has only had his for 3 months.

I don't mean to come off as asking for a newer model phone, but what do we get as a replacement? I don't want a lesser phone like devour, ally or eris. I know the incredible is back ordered. I pay over 250 a month for service, and hate having to reset my phone all the time to get it to work.

Just take care of your customers.

I wonder if the problem is that motorola is not being as dedicated to the droid's production as they probably were in the beginning. I never had a problem with mines (i was on of the first to get one) but i see people getting one recently and is full of issues. Either way i hope they do give you a different model.

Cobjones or anyone else with a similar issue:

When are you having this issue?  Does the phone start jumping when you've been outside in the heat for a prolonged period of time?  Here's how my trouble starts.  Let me know if anyone else has similar circumstances.  I typically work indoors and almost never have an issue except for the occasional times when my phone won't respond to my voice when texting and sometimes long delays on button pressing.  To fix this I just run task cleaner and task killer then good as new.  When I have the real issues is when I'm working outside.  It's usually kept in a case in my pocket.  I baby my phone so it's not being dropped.  I have yet to drop it.  Once I have been outside for a bit, when I try to answer a call by sliding the answer button to the right, it won't respond.  If I do happen to get it to "slide to unlock" once I'm inside, I have a terrible time navigating.  The menu screen you slide up jumps likes it's on a caffeine high from hell.  Once I go back inside, it still takes a while to go back to normal.  I've thought maybe it's the heat but the phone never feel hotter than normal.  I even tried setting it on my very hot dash before when it's been working fine just to see if the same issues happen but they didn't.  The only thing I can think may be happening is a sensor or something relating to the touch screen, when in the heat for a prolonged period causes the touch screen to go nuts until cooled.  Hope this helps.
