How to Remove Twitter Contacts?

I added my Twitter account to my Droid X via "My Accounts". This unfortunately pollutes your contact list such that when you go to make a call, every twitter user you follow is mixed into your phone book. Now I already know how to filter this out so I don't see them and to create groups, but what I would really like to do is remove all my Twitter contacts from my phone so they are not there at all. Short of reverting to factory defaults, does anyone know how to get rid of the twitter contacts from the phone permanently?

I have scoured the Internet and several people have complained about this but I have yet to find an actual solution.  It seems reasonable to assume that one can remove Twitter from their "My Accounts" list and that should purge the Twitter contacts. It even gives you a warning stating that it will remove all Twitter contacts, however it does not. I've tried.

If anyone has the actual solution I would be most appreciative.

Have you tried to long press on the contact that you want deleted?  When you long press a menu will come up with an option to delete.

Yeah, I have 2,400 Twitter followers. Hold pressing to delete each of them would be really impractical. There really has to be a way to remove contacts by service type.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

If you just want your "phone" contacts. Go to contacts>menu>Display group. You will see a list of what you want shown. At the bottom is Phone contacts. Just so you know you can only choose one option. But, you do have the option to create a new group (add your own), use Google contacts (will show only Google contacts) or use your favorites.

(Edit)   Sorry just re read you question and realized that you already know this. But, figured I would leave it for others who do not.

From my understanding there is not a way to delete your twitter contacts ( Or Facebook etc. for that matter). I have tried to find an answer to this myself. So hopefully if some one does have the answer, they will post it here.

The problem with this is it will unfriend them in Twitter.  People probably don't want to do that.  They just don't want the Twitter contacts showing up in the contact list.

Having same issue. Twitter contact info takes over the 'contact' file and contacts outside of twitter can not be found.

Did anyone ever come up with a remedy?

Hello. I have read your post and understand you are needing assistance with removing the twitter contacts. Here is a way to remove the Twitter Contacts.

Go to your twitter client
Go to the options and sign out of twitter
Remove the twitter app
Go to your contacts
Go to options>more>manage accounts and delete your twitter account
Go back to the twitter app
Now login...and this time when it asks, say DO NOT SYNC.
