I just installed Handcent and set it as the default for txt msgs. If I want to go back to the original app how do I do it. I don't see a setting for this.
If you decide you prefer the stock messenger, you can just uninstall Handcent. OR, I have and use Handcent as my default messsenger, however I can still use the other. Just click on the stock messenger icon, a box should come up that says, " complete action using" click on the regular messenger if you want that one.

Thanks. I guess there isn't a means to swap back and forth between the two without uninstalling. I like Handcent better...which is why I chose to use it as the default. I was just curious if there was a means to go back. Apparently not. Thanks for clarifying.

There is a way to change default apps for various tasks through settings, but it's a pain. If you wanna use the default messaging app again, just uninstall Handcent, it's way easier.

That way would be Menu>Settings>Manage Applications>Either Handcent or Messaging and click "Set as Default".

Supitsmike is correct. Also if you dont want to change the default setting you can also just open the app drawer and then select the messaging app to use it instead.

Just curious, what is so much better about Handcent...p.s I am new to all the different apps thing. Thanks.
Handcent give you more control.
You can set it to have quick view so you dont have to actually open the app to veiw or respond to texts, you can set different sounds for different contacts and much much more.

ChompSMS is another pretty cool SMS program. It will display an incoming text without opening the app. You can add a sig.
Lots of other options, including the ability to use the Chomp SMS netowrk when using WiFi. but there is a charge for that. Eww.
The only downside, maybe to sine folks, is that the messages window looks like....here it comes...THE IPHONE.
For what it's worth,
