How to stop "DROID" announcement when turning on phone?

I turn my Incredible off at night. Sometimes I need to turn it on early in the morning before my family wakes up. However, shortly after starting it, a loud voice says "DROID" as part of the boot-up process. I want my phone to wake up silently. Can this annoying announcement be turned off somehow? Thanks.

There is also an app called "Silent Boot" which is specifically for the DROID! announcement when the phone boots up ...this is what was suggested bt HTC.

Its a simple app, its just one question you check/uncheck.

I use an app called, 'Silent Time Lite' so the phone is silenced during particular hours, yet I can choose specific contacts to allow the phone to still ring for a call or text.

Make sure the program strats before you shut off the phone for the night.

Thanks for the suggestion about Silent Time Lite. I was hoping there was a "built-in" way to simply turn this off but will give this a try if not. To me, this is a big oversight and an obnoxious/aggressive marketing ploy if you have to listen to that every time the phone is turned on. Customers should be given a simple way to turn it off in the phone settings.

or you can just put on vibrate/silence the phone right before turning it off.

Hi Tim,

That is definitely a "work around" and not a permanent solution, as it entails more hassle than one should have to go through in this case. However, it does work, and I appreciate the suggestion.

Thanks,
Gary

Thank you! Silent Boot is just what I was looking for. It works perfectly and simply -- no more annoying Droid announcement on startup!

I just checked and the app is still there. Go to the Android Market and search for "Silent Boot" by Anton Weber.
